DEDICATIDN MISS BARLEY This year, the MEMOIRS staff deaicates the 1959 book to Miss Helen Barley, who faithfully served our school for ma.ny years. Grant was only two years old when Miss Barley began working here as a secretary in 1929. Her first two years were busy not only as a private secretary to principals Fletcher and Bittner, but also as a counselor. In the thirty-two years Miss Barley was here some 16, 500 students graduated. Miss Barley didn't merely work eight hours and go home for the evening. She was here day or night, as students who came in close contact with her will verify. Anyone coming to the office would encountera friendly face and a helping hand. If they were dejected Miss Barley would brighten them up with her sense of humor. 1 d ' t what this ert little lady will do upon retiring. With such an interest in Grant, one wou d won er Jus p This question is easily answered. Her extracurricular activities would fill just about a.nyone's time-- Republican Women's Group, Methodist church, Eastern Star, a card club, and a vast interest in sports. She follows all Grant games. The students ofGra.ut all owe their sincere appreciation to this wonderful woman who is a friend to all.
