DEDICATICN The Grant High School Memoirs of l95l is dedicated to C. E. Scott, who retired last year after twenty-three years of service as Vice-Principal. To this year's freshman class, Mr. Scott is a stranger, but classes of past years will always remember his help and guidance. He came to Grant from the chemistry department of Iefferson and was a steadying force during all but two of Grant's formative years. His office, with its big gray couch, was the home-away-from-home for the male stu- dents of Grant. At almost any time of the day one or more of these males could be found sprawled on the couch suffering from illness or those two other diseases which strike down such great numbers of students, chronic lack of homework and teacher's complaint. He gave more autographs than most celebrities, and his red-inked signature was sought for checks, excuses and sometimes, with regret, for suspension slips. The deten- tion list on his desk was long but well-deserved. Not only was Mr. Scott a disciplinarian, but he was a gentleman who always set a good example of honor and character for the boys of Grant. Under the guidance of our new Vice-Principal, Grant will continue to be the fine school it always has been. But Mr. Scott's place in the hearts of the faculty and graduates of this highvischool will never be erased.

Dur- ing this time she has given invaluable aid to the Girls' League, its officers and projects, and all its members. She must assign girls' detention and make certain that it doesn't slip their minds. Residence cards and college applications for seniors are handled through her office. All activity cards are brought to her and sorted before being returned to the registration teachers. The school problems of the female student body members fall inevitably on her shoulders. For her competent help and guidance, she deserves the thanks of the student body. This year Grant High acquired a new Vice- Principal. He is Kenneth A.
