As a member oi the student body of the U. S. Grant High School, you have learned with vision and determination to work together to achieve your objectives. You have repeatedly demonstrated this in your class, your club, and your team work. As you leave this great institution, may you take with you that which you have learned here. May you successfully apply it to the new problems that daily confront you. May your personal reconversion be short; may your future be long, pleasant, and prosperous. 7

With vision and determination they worked together to achieve this end. And yet they are lagging far behind in the program to reconvert their industrial and political machines to the pursuit of peace. Is it not a sad commentary on our civilization that the same people with the same characteristics and abilities who won the war, seem incapable of coping with the problems which have arisen as a result of that success? You, the members of the January Class of 1947, are in a sense unigue. You are the last January Class. You may mark the end of an era. And yet, like all the classes that have gone before, you are come to the end of your High School Days. You too are faced with reconversion. 6

V Assistant vice-principal, dean of girls—these are Miss Elizabeth McGaw’s official titles, but she is equally well known as friend and counselor of all. Combining experience and understanding, she has gained the respect and affection of all who have met her. As vice-principal, Mr. C. E. Scott has charge of school activities and'executive details as well as of boys' attendance and discipline. Well liked and respected, he performs his duty firmly and justly.
