MISS McGAW The graciousness of Miss Elizabeth McGaw. Dean of Girls, is a true inspiration to her subordinates. Her devotion to the welfare of others is best displayed in her office where she presides as dispenser of advice, knowledge, and goodwill. Although she is most frequently identified by her work with the co-eds and the Girls' League, there is no Grant student who is not affected by Miss McGaw's activities. MR. SCOTT Mr. C. E. Scott, as vice-principal, fills one of the most difficult positions on the Grant faculty with energy, friendliness, and dignity. Aside from his duties as assistant to the principal, he guides the boys of Grant high school towards fine standards of conduct and scholarship. Mr. Scott ranks high among the numbers of public servants who place ideals above personal gain. THE OFFICE STAFF

It may be said of your class, more than that of any class that has preceded you, that you are a product of the times. You have been called upon, in no uncertain way, to bridge the gap between school days” and Life. You have worked in the shops and the market place, you have bought bonds with your savings, you have given of your blood, you are serving your country on the battlefront. In a thousand different ways you have already entered into the work and struggle of this living world. Commencement, in your case, is a misnomer. Yet, we must not overlook the fact that you have done your work here as well. You have labored diligently in your classes, you have entered into sports, you have given the leadership so necessary in these trying times. In every way you have measured up to the best traditions of U. S. Grant High. Now, as you leave these halls forever, it is our sincere hope and prayer that those ideals and attitudes, those facts and figures, those loyalties and understandings which have constituted our contribution to you, may in the days to come give to you strength, courage, and wisdom. Colton Meek, Principal
