CLASS SONG We're thinking today of our fond recollections, Of pleasures found here at Grant High; Of our student days and the joys they have brought us, As time of departure draws nigh. We leave after four years of being together, Now singing a song in thy praise. We'll always remember, keep glowing the ember That flamed in our happiest days. ■ BATTLING THE BILLOWS The roll and rumble of tumbling waves, The rise and fall of the deep, The whistling wind and the stinging rain, The deck's tipping, crazily steep; The lash of the spray with its blinding sting As it cuts across the face, The lurch of the ship as it heaves with the sea, And battles the salt embrace. But after the storm a gentle calm When sunlit shines the sea, The seagulls' graceful diving down In screaming ecstasy. 'Tis life, this battling with the waves, This wild and stormy strife, The loud wind's answer from the caves To the roar of the deep and the rife. But when it is passed we think of the guide, The man at the helm, his strength, His love and his will, and a tested skill That brought us through at length. Let wild winds howl and billows roll, The rain lash, and the sleet— My Captain's true; I'm in His hold. He'll guide me o'er the deep. —Elizabeth Kennington. CLASS COLORS: TURQUOISE BLUE - SILVER
