ELIZABETH McGAW C. E. SCOTT D E A N VICE PRINCIPAL realize what has been crowded into them. We trust you feel that, all in all, your stay has been happy and successful. May your growth physically, mentally, and spiritually have been that which fits you for what lies ahead. It is well you can not look behind the veil of the future, but you can look forward, face the pleasures, disappointments, and obligations of citizenship with courage, strength, and high hopes. Much is not well with the world in which we live. Many complain, criticize, and do little. Others endeavor to lift up, to raise the level of living for their fellows as well as for themselves. We are confident you belong to the latter. We cherish our associations with you and are grateful to you for your splendid contribution to the life of Grant High School. Sincerely, A. F. Bittner. AN APPRECIATION In every situation there are those who guide and those who are guided. Very often the guides do not receive recognition or appreciation for the services rendered. But generally deep inside the person guided there is a feeling of intense gratitude and friendliness which does not express itself until a sudden thought or circumstance

CLASS ADVISORS Mr. Horning Mr. Nottage Mr. Keeney Mr. Rickies Miss Davis Miss Clarke Miss Hoel Miss McGill Miss Wuest brings about the realization of that feeling. Such is the experience of the Class of January '34. When we entered four years ago, a bewildered and timid group, we accepted the helpful guidance of Miss McGaw, Mr. Bittner, and Mr. Scott, without stopping to consider how indebted we were to them for the rapid adjustment to this strange existence. Although we were not actually aware of it, the faculty soon joined their ranks, and through kindly advice and welcome explanations acquainted us with a heretofore unexplored world. With our sophomore year came the problems of preparing to become upper classmen, but with newly-found confidence we believed ourselves to be capable of meeting single-handed these perplexities, overlooking again the assistance of our leaders. As Juniors we faced the battle of becoming Seniors, and again with the unknown aid of the administration and the faculty such minor details as courses of study, credits and personal aptitude were dealt with daily, gladly and sympathetically. In the fourth year class advisors, who, by their friendly cooperation and sympathetic understanding, helped us through the numerous and intricate Senior activities, aided in making the last year an unforgetable one. Senior year! To the Freshman those words are magic, but to the Senior — a blank, dreary feeling. With the thought of graduation, which necessitates leaving behind this intimate and familiar world, losing the many friendships formed among the teaching staff, and going out into a strange, formidable world, comes realization, realization that at Grant we have been guided surely and kindly through high school by the loyalty, the understanding, and the compassion of the teachers.
