PAULA JEAN BABB State Queen Grant s FFA Chapter was honored durlng 1953 when Mass Paula Babb, Grant Hugh School Sensor, was selected as FFA Sweetheart of Oklahoma She was chosen over 50 other Chapter Queens from varlaus sectuons of the state Mlss Babb was crowned at the grandstand show of the state falr nn Oklahoma Clty As a part of FFA Day Sllver Anniversary Actlvltles As a result of her being selected state FFA Queen Miss Babb appeared on two TV programs and will reign over varlous FFA events the state association wlll hold uncludlng the state convention to be held at Stillwater ln Aprul and actlvltles at next fall s state falr

The Grant Chapter opened the school year wlth the electuon of the follow 7,744.14 GRANT F. F. A. CARRIES ON Learning to do, doing to learn, is only a part of the Future Farmers Motto yet It IS the key to members of the Grant Chapter Future Farmers of America Twenty have beef production enterpruses Ten boys have dairy enter prnses Ten have chosen swine ten poultry flve have crop enterprises Thus ns brought out In their Supervised Farm Program as well as un the classroom on faeld trnps nn FFA meetungs and ludgnng contest Thus year the Chapter lnsted Swme Im.provement as one of nts cooperatuve prolects Besudes fattenmg out hogs for the market the boys bought a regns tered gnlt last fall from whlch pngs wall be glven to members who have shown outstanding abllltles In their supervised farm trammg program These mem bers ln turn wlll glve back a pug to the Chapter from the furst lltter of the gult they won to be passed on to other members The use of a small acreage of land was donated to the Chapter by Mrs Florence Nelson Smith Members are preparmg the land for vegetables to be marketed and for swine prolects Members of the Grant Chapter belneve an besng a part of theur commumty They assnst farmers un the communnty with livestock problems by domg labor such as de hornnng castratmg branding spraymg for pests cullmg poultry and also 'obs such as prumng fruut trees and care of shrubbery col lectlng and testing soul samples and numerous other 'obs There are several to whom thus Chapter feels a lot of cts success ns due The ONeal Motor Company of Hugo has furnished a Dodge puck up for the Chapter to use Also the R M Fry Lumber Company To these and other friends the Chapter ns grateful mg offncers President Vlce President Secretary Treasurer Reporter Queen President Vlce President Secretary Treasurer Reporter Sentinel JUNIOR OFFICERS Leroy Hyatt Felton Cash Bully Holmes Scottie Robinson J A Campbell Etta Davidson Cecal Holt Bully Wyatt Garry Landreth Johnny Flanagan Jerry Holmes Wayland Mock I . , , . . . . . .
