N T O Freshman 1940 1941 On August 30, 1940 something new was added to Grant City High School our class of sixty shining faces greeted the student body on the first Monday of the new school year Our sponsors were the late Miss Elorne Turner and Mrs Jack Barker Bill Ray was chosen as our class president Our basketball queen for this year was Betty Jane fEighmyJ Shipley Sophomore 1941 1942 The next year we were full fledged Sonhomores No longer were we the under dogs Miss Clara Ellen Wolfe was our sponsor Our basketball queen was Mildred Waske from the good old town of Oxford Our motto was 'We forget them? Our president was Jack Andrews Junior 1942 1943 Practically a new group of teachers greeted us this fall Paul Phillips, Helen Ruth Jeffries, Ena June Garrett, Don Johnson and Walter Cummings After Magor Brown left us Mrs Brown started teaching They were an excellent group of teachers Many are the memories we have taken with us from our Junior year the school plays, the class play, Bond Drives, assemblies, football rallies 'The Tiger Tattler,' and the banquet Our class president was Bill Ray 'Where there's a will there's a Ray' and we got Bill for president of the Student Council for the coming year Bond Queen for our class was Kathryn Parman Grant City High School students in five days raised one third of Worth County's bond quota, selling 840,543 worth of bonds Senior 1943 1944 As September, 1943 dawned we found ourselves distinguished seniors with twelve years of happy memories to call to mind and to inspire us to do bigger and better things in this last year It was twelve years ago that a small class of twenty five gathered into the first grade Twelve years we have studied, quarreled and had fun together Today we look about us and find that only eight bright beaming faces have come through the battle of Grant City School and survived They are Justine Carnes, Eugene Fletchall, Imogene McConkey, vraneee Marler, Bill Ray, Shirley Stevens, Charles Wilkerson and Charles Whorlow But what a qoy it was to welcome new faces into our midst Denver and Worth High Schools have sent students to Grant City High School of whom anyone might be proud from Denver, we have two representatives Natalie Norton and Lois Brown who have battled twelve hard years of school life together from Worth High School, we have three re presentatives Maxine Dannar, Wally Lattimer, and Pauline Lane who have come through twelve long years together with flying colors We hold dear to our hearts many memories of this year We will always remember our unique pep squad initiation, our pep assemblies, the tournament, our new superintendent, Hr. B. W. Frazier, and our new teachers, Barbara Garrett, lary Hobson, Fern Hass, Hazel Michel, Kathryn Lentz, and Inez DuBois Qwelcome back Miss DuBoisJ. How can we forget our paper, 'Tiger Tales,' school parties, basketball and football games, and our Senior play. Our four years spent in good old G. C. H. S. have given ue memories which we shall always cherish in the years to come when the cross roads of life have caused our ways to sever.
