1923 l I QR SCHOOL HISTORY Befoie the town of Ci ant City was founded the neaiest district school was located one half mile west of the squaie l 1867 this chool house was moved to Grant City and a summ 1 term was taught Thus it was that the C11 ant City school ame into being and like all great institutions had a humble beginning The c1t1Lens cf this new village weie progiessixe fi om the fii st and wished their children to have the best education advan tages possible o in 1869 a frame school building was built south east of the squaie The school soon outgrew the building, and 1 foar loom br ck building was erected on the piesent site in 1876 At that t Ire the blllldlllg W s con lCl016Cl well equlpped and was of ufficient size to accomodate the students but by 1883 it wa years later 1t was toin dow n becau e it was considered unsafe and the present building was ei ected The incr asing numbei tudents and the addition of x ocational coui ses necessitated h election in 1919 of anoth r building south of the large one This smallei building is u ed for xocatlonal subjects and two of th Grades G1 ant City has had a fiist class high school since 1906 and at present has one of the best equipned schools for 1ts size in th state The reason for the rapid growth of oui school lS th t teacheis and superintendents for years have given their fforts to her 1mp1 ovement and the people of the community have lent their support to all her activities Patrons of the school aie not satisfied w th any but the be t of equipment the most efficient teacher and the most beneficial coui se of study So we are proud of our school because of what she has don in the past and because of the 1I1d1C3tl0T1 of a still brighter futui e May we not permit our minds to ling er over the past achievements to so gieat an extent that W forget the necessity for further advancement .
