1919 OLTO CRXNT 1919 SENIOR CLASS HISTORX Years ago about the yeai 1910 a ioyal band of fifty six bright students came into a position of prominence as freshmen in the Grant City High School lfew authentic records of the class were made but through some iecent reseai ch work some x aluable manuscripts have been une 11 thed which through a bit of llght on the subject From these it appeais that the band vt as given a high place socially politlcally and intellectually under the super vision of Supeuntendent Lowiy Their superlority was recognized bv their colors of red and white waving fi om the High School tower Very little else 1S known of them unt1l the next age when thev are heard of as Sophomores Ancient Hlbt0lV During the next pe11od in its Histoiy the age of Bronze for brass? this famous class advanced still faithei undei the leadei furnishing some of the best athletics on the Basket Ball team ihey became very magnanlmous also at this time and entertained some of their schoolmates Mediaeval Hlstory The mediaeval period of the history of this class begun veiv auspiclously Wlth Dean Miller President Mildred Cadle Sec retary and Nile Benson Treasurer The band had then came to be known as Juniors and carried off more and more honors All of the members have memory of their entertainment of the Sophomores at a Kid Party also the entertainment of the Sen 1ors at the close of the year During this year however the class president moved away and Curtis McK1m took his place Modern Hlstory In September this wonderful class was once more heaid of this time as Semors bent upon brlnging their career in High School to a brilliant close The1r modern history began at a class meeting in which John Phipps was elected President N 1le Benson Secretary Elvis Campbell Treasui er and Miss Helen Drake then advisor At this time the school was disbanded unt1l Decembei thirty first When they came back two new names were on then roll book Lee Drake and Ellis Beavers One of our members declded l1fe was too short to finish with us so she IS now taklng a matrimonial course The next great event was the wonderful thesis which they all worry so much about and which are finally finished Then came Commencement and this wonderful class of 1919 starts on 1t,S great career in the wide, wlde world. , c 1 fr 1 1 . 7, . . . . . , , , . , . . 2 . , k ' I ' . as s ya . y l A .
