, o PUBLISHED B THE TUDENTS or HIGH CHOOL THE Michele F ackler Pam Weber co-Edirol-S W FOREWORD Throughout the school year Granite Hills' life blood throbs with our emotions and actions. Each part of her reflects her inhabitants. The gym echoes with the roar of our cheers at sports activities and assemblies: the class- rooms emit drones of lectures and recitation or rattle with the staccato ot laughterg the corridors pulsate with the beehive of humanity rushing to beat the six-minute guillo- tineg and the quad--that everlasting oasis-stands omni- present and ready to host groups of friends at lunch time. Without these hundreds of boys and girls who throng the broad passages bringing life and vigor by the sheer young magnetism of their presence, the buildings and corridors of Granite Hills remain alone in stoic silence. lt is this mood that we have attempted to capture for you. As the pages of this year's PAGEANT of memories untold, you will notice an aura of stillness . . . peaceful- ness . . . vast emptiness prevails. Granite Hills has been stripped of the color and boisterous gaity of the school year, lt is the hope of the PAGEANT staff that you will replace the emptiness with faces familiar to you and fill the stillness with echoes of their laughter. LOTTE OUR FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT Dear all students of Granite Hills, I am Lotte Kiaer, the foreign exchange student from Denmark. I am very happy to be able to attend your high school and to know American teenagers. When I came over here I was afraid that the American and Danish people and the way of living in U.S.A. and Denmark were too much like each other and that you therefore not was interesting in my country. But it was my foolish worrying. I know now that our countries and our way of living are extremely different. I have learned to know your country, your people, your way of living, thinking and talking, and I love itl I am a great admirer of the American people, and I know that when I go home I always will look at America as my second adopted country. . Many students ask me, How is Denmark? , and I have told them that it is a little green and flat country and that is true. I wish you all could come and visit my country. I hope of whole my heart that I in this year can give you all what'you want from me, and at last l'Il ask you, Please, let us be your friend. Sincerely yours, .jef4QJf
