ii PRINCIPAL Mr . P . Morell -' 'rar'- We have concluded our first year at Granite Hills High School. During this year we experienced many things that will remain long in our memories: the siren sounding the passing signals, the ice cream and milk lunch lines, the lack of lockers, no showers, the thrill of seeing the Eagle Band in the Grossmont District Carnival, the delightful surprise at this same Football Carnival when our team scored first, our Cross Country Champions, the Faculty-Varsity basketball game, and many other incidents that will remain indelibly stamped in our memories. This outstanding first year was achieved chiefly because of an eager, hard work- ing, senior class who led the way for the entire student body. We thank each senior for hisfher contribution of our initial suc- cess and wish himfher equal success in their future. I know that the example set by our first graduating class will serve as a challenge to each successive class, a challenge to continue to carry on in the highest of Eagle traditions - fly high, fly straight, fly true. Scion! .xdalmin iafrafion VICE-PRESIDENT Mr. R. W. Spencer I have, at times, prided myself on not being a sentimental person. This hardened exterior was broken, however, on the night of the Grossmont District FootballCarnival, Sept. 23, 1960. As I Watched the Granite Hills rooting section operating for the first -time I realized that I had come to a school with spirit, manners, and pride and I was truly impressed. Since that time Ihave accepted many expressions of con- gratulations for the way in which you have conducted yourselves both in school and out. As you know, a vice principal's job is not always a joyous one. However even in dealing with some problems at Granite Hills I have found that the vast majority of the students are forthright and honest in their dealings with me. This is a sign of a student body that really wants its school to be the best. So I say tq all Eagles. A- good job for any year. An outstanding job for the first year. Lets continue to grow in spirit, manners and pride.
