Before the tardy hell, as students dashed in, Della Thompson scranihled to sell students type paper, a pencil, or a special English text, to change money, record facts and figures in the hooks, transfer credit, or lend muchfneeded locker keys. Mavis Christensen had a special satisfaction as Mr. l-latch's private secretary. W'hen not hopping to the wishes of Mr. Hatch or typing corresf pondence, she kept husy answering innumerahle telephone calls, okaying daily notices, or solving the prohlems of stu' dents. lf we were ahsent, Wynona Cottrell passed out hlue slips. She spent her time recording Clays present and ahsent of each student. By juggling rows of statistics, she kept school records in order. We juniors agreed this year's prom, Ha- waiian Heaven, was just the pink pink limit! W'hat else with the Sedgley beat, a splash of color, a blue ceiling, swaying palms, and a pivoting doll at our side? At our party, led by a lively threesome-Ron, Naomi, and Mary-we chargedfoff. 'Twas a ball! We danced to jukebox pop, sipped punch with spudnuts, or played games to raise some green for our melted-out funds. A term ended. We caught the exam blues with everyone else. Studying like mad, all mem- 127 orized the Gettysburg Address, mixed chem- ical formulas, or wrote theme after theme. Color was the word for garb as we dressed from pink to orange and brought back flapper days with ropes of beads. Vlfe dug lave P. Morgan's That's All l Want From You, Saturday nights with Gohel, and Moon Dial as the most. Finding we had cheered at jayvee games, initiated junior l-lostesses, and produced an assembly, we felt this year a smashing success and looked forward to being Seniors.
