FLOW LIKE THE STREAM If you have ever seen a stream on Mt. Pilchuck, you know that it babbles along over rocks and sometimes over rapids. There are waterfalls and whirlpools, and it can often be rough and violent. Yet, that water is clear; it sparkles in the sun; it’s pure. Take that same stream and place a dam in its way so that it stays in the same place, never changing, and it becomes a stagnant pool, the water dead and unfit to drink. Well, our lives are like that. We all like to stay in one spot, to avoid the rocks of work and the rapids of life. But, if we do, we become as stagnant and uninteresting as that pool. When we let ourselves get into life, however, then our lives pick up speed and flow, like the stream into a mighty river. Sure, there are troubles and work, and sure, we get tired and weary, but we also grow, and we learn and we come alive as we work to be the best we can be. Don’t become stagnant and uninteresting but flow like the stream and grow into the best per- son you can. On behalf of myself and the faculty at G.F.H.S., I wish to each and every one of you the hap- piness of a productive life, the respect of your fellow human beings, and the love of your family. May the future be yours. The best of luck and congratulations to the class of 1984. Princ. Cloy Sykes 3 Dan Brehm Jim Klepper John Cook
