Too often when we are young we feel that each detour must be explored. Valuable time is wasted exploring the detours to find the unknown at each pathway end. More progress can be made by youth who will read the signs along the path. Discerning youth travel the main trail to reach their destination arriving there re- freshed and ready for the challenges they will meet. We sincerely trust that your experience in our school has taught you to read the sign boards along the trail you have chosen for yourself; so that, you will arrive at your destination refreshed and eager to meet your chal- lenges in life. VERN L. HUFFMAN Secretary Claribel Motter PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: All paths lead somewhere. Some people travel what- ever path they happen upon. For them the rewards at the end of the trail will be determined by luck. Others more sensibly attempt to find out which paths lead to their goals. Will you be the idle wanderer constantly at the mercy of chance fate or will you be the prudent, knowledgeable traveler aware of your own destination ? Many of the cleat-footed Tigers won honors for Granite Falls, and Larry Stanton broke the B League record for the mile and went on to take third place in the State tournament. The Athletic Banquet was a huge success this year. Larry Stanton won many of the individual player awards. The girls' tennis team was also honored for its successful season. Boys' and Girls' State entrants this year were Lyle Lundberg and Bev Cool. They were sent as repre- sentatives to model state governments, sponsored by the American Legion and Auxiliary. Mrs. Maria Burrill, with the Junior High Chorus, and Mr. Brian Ayers, with the High School Band, brought springtime in on pathways of music. Mrs. Evelyn Friesen, below celebrated spring with the annual Style Show and Mother-Daughter's Tea. Style Show FOREST FANTASY was the theme of the float built this year by members of the community. The float was beautifully done and won many trophies and honors in parades all over the State. From the group of qualified contestants pictured below, special judges selected Pennie Pray as Queen, and Princesses Linda McFarland, Maxine Cartwright, and Rella Morris for the Royal Court. Junior-Senior Ball Stairway to the Stars Getting ready for the big dance! Much time and work was spent on making the Jr. Sr. Ball an evening to remember. Music was provided by the Fantastics. Everybody, DANCE! Chatting among the stars. Our faithful servers! Seniors at work. A couple of Queens and their consorts. OUCH!! Willie never walks Surprised Princess We all fall down! GREEN LIGHT, a three act mystery-comedy with all sorts of weird effects, was the play presented this year by the Senior Class. With two casts, many Seniors participated both on stage and behind the scenes. Funds raised by the play helped to pay costs for several Senior outings, such as the gang below, returning from an all-night boat ride on Puget Sound. But I don't want to go ! ! Pictured above, with dusting mop, is Mr. Jacob Scherrer. Be- low, at the boiler controls, is Mr. A1 Bond. Our drivers traveled over many pathways in bringing students to school. Pictured, Left to Right: Mrs. Bond, Mrs. Tupper, Mr. Eisen- hauer and Mr. Bogart. Mrs. Bond was substi- tuting for Mrs. Hughes. The senior class of 1966 helped to open many new and different pathways to a better year. The seniors blazed their way into the ASB by providing them with their President, Bruce Bond; and Secretary, Cathy Horn. Student Council Representatives were Julie- Ann Day and Paul Craggs. To help the senior class make their decisions were Brian Larcom, Presi- dent; Larry Stanton, Vice President; and Sharon Hjelle, Secretary. The seniors sold at a football game and several basketball games. They also sponsored sock hops.
