Sfiw -•3 - E . - 32 - lljCBH ' M3 i The theme of our annual this year is School Spirit. We'll be seeing our little spirit throughout the pages;let's see more of him in our school. Granite Falls High School presents THE PILCHUCK 1961 DEDICATION The annual staff of 1961 dedicates The Pilchuck to Mrs. Claribel Motter. We appreciate her outstanding secretarial work for Granite Falls High School during the past seven years. Mrs. Motter is always pleasant in helping the stu- dents. Among her daily tasks are writing excuses and lunch tickets, and many other odd jobs. Mrs. Motter, we thank you. ADMINISTRATION We are now passing into an era of complex change in the progress of mankind. Breakthroughs are being made in every part of the globe, and the problems arising out of the past as well as the present genera- tion are confronting us for solu- tions. Consequently, the people of the world are searching for leaders to take them by the hand and to lead them in positive direc- tions. Your education can prepare you to be such a leader or to choose the wisest paths to follow in the exciting world of tomorrow. Congratulations to all graduating seniors ! Mark Zerr Principal The annual staff well deserves an extra round of applause for select- ing School Spirit as the theme for the annual. Everyone should be actively engaged in improving our school and those who attend. To me, this means that each one must be loyal to himself and to the school, doing his best at all times. Congratulations to the seniors upon another goal achieved. In behalf of the faculty and myself, may we ex- tend to you our sincere best wishes. Everette Holman Superintendent Claribel Motter, our secretary this year, did a very good job. These boys represent the school spirit of Granite Falls High School. They are the baseball team of 1961. The coach was Mr. Barthlow. The teams our boys played were rough, but not rough enough to put our team out of circula- tion. The team tied for second place in the district. How is that for school spirit? We hope that the baseball team for 1961 will exhibit as much desire to win, willingness to work, and school spirit as the team of 1960. 47 JR. HIGH BASKETBALL FIRST ROW: Steve Burnett, Tom Dearinger, Tom Bergan, Steve Bromley, Bruce Campbell, Mark Zerr. SECOND ROW: Mr. Kelln, Coach; Bruce Miller, Darrell Luke, Doug Short, Leonard Larcum, Jerry Maik. This year's junior high school basketball team is one that the whole school can be proud of. The coach was Mr. Kelln; assistant coach was Tom Short; manager was Jerry Maik. These boys have worked hard to represent Granite Falls School well. They have taken the good with the bad, and have been good sports about it. When these players are on the high school team, we expect some good, exciting games; games that will send us to the tournament.
