Published By GRANITE FALLS HIGH SCHOOL Granite Falls, Washington i DEDICATION WE, THE ANNUAL STAFF OF GRANITE FALLS, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY DEDICATE THE I960 PIL- CHUCK TO MR. ELMER ANDERSEN, OUR ADVISOR, NOT ONLY IN APPRECIATION TO ALL THE WORK HE HAS DONE FOR THE ANNUAL STAFF BUT ALSO FOR ALL THE HELP HE HAS BEEN TO THE STUDENTS OF GRANITE FALLS HIGH SCHOOL. ADMINISTRATION Congratulations to our seniors. May your high school educations prove to you that there are more open doors for you to pass through in the years to come. The annual staff and advisor are to be com- mended for the efficient manner in which they have gone about their work this year. Thank you for your work and cooperation. That schools have assumed a more important place in the world in this age of the Sputnik is beyond reason- able doubt. Those of you who are about to graduate should recognize this fact and resolve to continue your educa- tion. The underclassmen should resolve to get more out of their high school career by putting more in, and thus laying the foundation for a happier and more productive adulthood. Our secretary this year was Claribel Motter. We wish to thank her for all her good work. 4 JACK De KUBBER 7th grade Basketball Coach INEZ EASTON Senior English Commercial Journalism ELMER ANDERSON World Problems World Geography Junior English 8th Grade Math BILL BARTHLOW CHERI RUTLEDGE Home Economics Girl's P.E. and Health MELVIN KELLN Mechanical Drawing Shop Driver’s Training Assistant Basketball Coach CECIL KEMP Business Law 8th grade Science V.G. The entire class worked very hard in making preparations for the dance, which turned out to be a huge success. Their Junior Carnival, held late in March, climaxed their year. This 1959-1960 season the Freshmen class had a wonderful time doing all sorts of confusing things. First of all we started out by selling refreshments at one of the coldest foot- ball games of the season. Second we sold refreshments at two of the most exciting basketball games. Our most enjoyable activity was a Frosh party at the Granite Falls Grange. We made no money but we all had a wonderful time. We then proceeded to take on our largest project by having a Box Social and a dance afterwards. We all feel we had a good time as well as a successful year. 18 PRESIDENT: Gilbert Winje VICE PRESIDENT: Jim Engebretsen SECRETARY: Sheila Fox CLASS OFFICERS: President — Peter Kierchgessner Vice President — Ron Chew Secretory — Kenny Maik Treasurer — Edna Berg The eighth grade class had a lot of fun as a class this year. A rather successful year I might add. Maybe not too successful sportswise — and for some of us, maybe not scholastically, but all-in-all it has turned out quite well. We have a new principal and several new teachers, as you all know. Let’s hope they like Granite well enough to return again next year. And with another year we have another annual. I won't say how successful or unsuccessful it is — you can draw your own conclusions, but I would like to urge everyone to patronize our advertisers. You can’t fully realize what a big help they are in financing our year book, and how much more your book would cost without them. With that thought in mind I shall close — have a good summer.
