1? eniol fttopkecy As I sail through the air in the latest rocket ship, I open my secret orders to see what planet to head for. No, it can't be! I must return to earth to investigate the dope ring that is operating in the vicinity of Frey's Service Station which is now owned and operated by our old classmate, Bobbie. Upon arriving at the world's-largest airport at Granite Falls, I immediately begin to wonder what happened to all my old classmates. Not far down the street I see a flashy truck and soon find out that it is owned by Buster Abbott, the famous cedar cutter of the Munn Abbott Co. I see Buster sitting in a cute little soda shop, Sunde's Sundae and Soda Sweet Shop, which is operated by my old friend, Marlene Sunde. I sit and chat with them about old times, and learn that Cheryl Motter was whiskey-tester for the Old Crow Co, , but had lost her job because she became an alcoholic. She ended up marrying the owner of the Nash Motor Co. Marlene tells me that Phillip Turner is now raising and selling turtles. Jerry Acton is employed as head turtle trainer and is Dora Melton's agent. Dora is work- ing for the Beetle Bailey Circus as the world's fat lady, Dora Dimples. I also learn that Bud Curtis has finally fulfilled his lifetime ambition by becoming a mattress tester; he can now sleep on the job without worrying about being fired. Wandering on down the boulevard, I see a sign, Come in and let Ralph and Ernie take you. I immediately recognize the slogan as that of Ralph Steinke and Ernie Bond. I decide that this is no place for me, so I wander on. On the other side of the street I spot the new saloon and dance hall, The Pink Garter, owned by Janyce Scofield. Lois Legs Rawlins and her dancing girls are featured every night. This exquisite place is located in the ritzier section of town. Nora Murphy is selling newspapers and making the fabulous sum of $15 a week. I invest in one of these papers and see Sylvia Wolfe's name plastered all over the sports page. She has finally won the world champion wrestling title. I also read that Janice Barstow has been promoted to a general during the war with China; keep going Jan, you may someday be president. I decide to return to Lochsloy to check up on my assignment—the dope ring. I can't seem to find anything, so I decide to return to the earth again in 2000. 14
