S NIOR CLASS HISTORY OUT OF THE HARBOR AND INTO THE DEEP The class of 58 began rts voyage on the shrp of knowledge rn the year 1946 Lookrng back to that year we can see a mass of frrst graders standrng on the east gang plank wartrng for Mrs Haugland to snap a prcture After the prcture and the new students had boarded the shrp our jobs started rrght away wrth passrng the basket and cleanrng the blackboards As the shrp moves on we frnd our second grade teacher had some great rdeas of how to drscrplrne a few naughty students There was one lrttle boy who was placed rn the waste paper basket tred and tape put across hrs mouth Thrs year rf we had nothrng else to do we could always look at our huge orange sweet potato flower pots Thrrd grade the trme had come to show what great artrsts we were On w1th the Talent Show' Congratulatrons on the wrnnrng song Buttons and Bows sung by Mrss Mooney Mrss Peterson and Mrss Rottunda Events on the Shlp qureted down untrl frfth grade Durrng that year blasts of mustc from the stern were often heard It seems that the shrpmates had a song Paul and hrs Chrckens whrch they loved to srng After class the dash was on to see who could be the frrst one out on the playground to reserve the teeter totters the place where our lrttle puppy loves kept ahve For entertarnment we had a chorce of two thrngs lrstenrng to TWIG or to FURTHER TALES OF NELS but the best thrng was watchrng Danny and Jerry especrally when they prcked on Lrttle Runt The shrp IS now half way Although we had started to grow up a lrttle no one could understand our language Seventh grade was marked by the Blue Beard pepfest the Cock frghts rn Mr Armstad s Englrsh Class but mostly by our Presrdentral Electrons and Campargns Jrm Drckrnson became our seventh grade presrdent rf you voted for hrm you recerved free treats It seems that every few years we as a class feel we must demonstrate our talents wrth a program In erghth grade there was the brg musrcal hrt Let s go Bowlrng on Bowlrng Green Thrs was the year that Mrss Westland helped us become rnterested 1n Snowbound projects and her room certarnly showed the effects We must go on for trme rs runnrng out Nrnth grade major events Mr Degelau s Englrsh class Mrss Wendorf started our small group and we also remember a frrendly lrttle tree rn Redwood State Park The last one thrrd of our sarlrng trme 18 here In tenth grade the frogs rn Mr Court s Englrsh Class kept us from concentratrng too much on Englrsh There was another musrcal productron put out by the tenth grade grrls Phys Ed Class The Wrzard of Oz rn Posture Land Our eleventh year as a class was qurte successful we helped brrng the Regron III Basketball Consolatron and Con ference Football trophres to G F H S Thrs year marked the end of our annual Chrrstmas partres whrch had been gorng on every year srnce 7th grade The shrp rs now enterrng the last httle stretch and now we can see out of the harbor rnto blackness The last year unrted our class as one Wlth class projects for our Senror Class trrp to Chrcago Thrs trrp w1th no T V rn the ad vrsor s room no sleep srttrng up rn the halls all nrght the srghts Gus Place and most of all the Shangrar La was a true success Our twelve years rn G F H S have been a success too We now leave the Harbor of Knowledge and thank those who have grven rt to us Now we are Out of the Harbor and rnto the Deep 14 , .... . 1 . . . . . ,, . 11 1 1 1 11 - 11 1 - 1 1 ' 1 1 1 ' . . ,, ,, . . . 1 1 1 1 1 . , - , ,, . . ,, . . 1 1 ' 0 1 . , . . ,, . ,, , . . , . 11 11 + 1 1 - 1 - 1 . . . ,, , . . ,, . . , . , . . . . . - , . - . . . . , . . . . . . . . . . . . . , 11 - - 11 . , . , - . - 1 1 . -- . . - . , . . . . . , . 1 1 1 1 1 1 T 1 . . . , .
