1969 BOULDER Annual Publication of the Granite Falls High School Yearbook Staff Volume XXII Robert Richards Gwennie Kirby Editor Business Mgr. Debbie Hayes Co-Editor Mrs. Frank Miller Sponsor FOREWORD Just as surely as sunset must follow sunrise, so must each year follow the preceding one. As freshmen we enter the sunrise of our education; as seniors we leave at the sunset. High school days for all of us students at Granite Falls become shorter and more precious as each year passes. It is only natural that we students should feel the need for something to look back on in future ye ars to refresh our memories of these wonderful high school days. We have attempted to fill these pages with a collection of the highlights of our years at Granite Falls. Someday when these memories begin to fade, we hope the Boulder can revive them for us again and again. 2 Sunrise, sunset . . . swiftly flow the days . . . pep rallies, ballgames, and cheers of victory . . . There are other memories of hours spent . . . in biology lab, working on research papers, 6 Sunrise, sunset . . . swiftly fly the years; One season following another ... Then comes that long-awaited day, graduation. As we graduate, we not only look back at our school and to the years spent here where we grew and learned, worked and played, but we also look to the future and to the exciting years yet in store for us. I Mr. Deal counsels as both friend and advisor. DEDICATION . . . As one looks back through the past years, he recalls the people who have helped him through major decisions, such as the furthering of his education. One whom we will always remember is our guidance counselor, Mr. M. Sinclair Deal, who has guided many students to higher education, better jobs, and perhaps a better life. His genuine interest in the students of Granite Falls is shown in his understanding attitude toward each student ' s particular situation. During his years at Granite Falls Mr. Deal has also been very active in the athletic program of our school. In grateful recognition of his contribution of time, service, and self, we, the annual staff, proudly dedicate the 1969 Boulder to Mr. Deal. m ■St. 9 IN MEMORIAM PRINCIPAL Mr. BiU Metcalf Mr. Metcalf has been a valuable asset to Granite Falls High School during his four years as principal here. He is willing to help any student with his problems, and his advice is always for the better- ment of the student.
