the 1968 Granite Boulder Volume XXI Granite Falls High School Granite Falls, North Carolina Edited by Sharon Waters FOREWORD This is the year we have waited for. Now the seniors of ' 68 with cap and diploma will become graduates of Granite Falls High School. Not a dream but a reahty has made this goal true. As Freshmen we looked ahead with doubts. Would we someday be able to take the role of Seniors? But that was a dream and nothing more. The Sopho- more year found us following escapades of fun. With pen in hand we saw ourselves through our autobiographies. This was the year we became more active in organizations and looked forward to the time when we would be leaders of the school. As Juniors we planned the Prom. With our ideas and earnings we set out to work on our chosen theme. And now we are the Seniors. We have our high school days behind us and the memories of four years within us. We have taken part in the privi- leges and responsibilities handed down to us. Now we are ready to face the future. An Age It is hard to understand why someone so young and dedicated as Alan should be taken from us. Yet we know God never makes mistakes. We can ' t express the emptiness felt in the absence of Alan ' s presence among us, but his living memory remains. And it is to this memory that we dedicate this, the 1968 BOULDER. ADMINISTRATION 9 5 ' PRINCIPAL MR. BILLMETCALF The students of Granite Falls High are very fortunate to have Mr. Bill Metcalf as their principal. The pages turn, and days fly by, But memories stay and never die. Oh reader, think back ' ere you close this book; Those pictures, those faces, each happy look. Were meant to be memories in years to come. So happy to many, nostalgic to some. We leave this school and our childliood behind, And face the future, knowing not what we will find; But a small part of life has already been spent, And each soul is different in the way it was meant. The chndliood will prove what a man will be. The mold has been cast, now time shall see; But the years that have passed were dearest to all, And now they are gone; a curtain will fall. A book was made — and years have passed. And each has come to its end at last. The pages are turned — the days gone by. But memories stay and never will die. COPIED 126
