Although the 1962 J.V. team did not maintain an unblemished record, they did put in a lot of hard work which will mean much when they send some boys on to the varsity team next fall. Not the least of the things they have learned on the gridiron is sports- manship, an important asset on the field, on the bench, or in the stands. Brooks. Cheerleaders give school spirit, Headcheerleaders Teena Wil- son, Judie Wilson, and Vickie Yount have practiced with and trained seven new cheerleaders this year, and the results have been marvel- ous. Besides the regular cheering at games, the cheerleaders have held many pep rallys on campus and in the town square. With their ex- ample to follow, the entire student body took on a greater interest in the athletic program, and atten- dance and cheering at the ball- games was magnificent. Baseball 1962, Demons Co-Champions, draw record crowds, make records themselves . . . In 1962, the Granite Falls Blue Demons were Co- Champions of the Northern section of Southern District VII; however, they lost in the drawing to determine which team would play for the District Championship. With a 6-2 conference record and a 10-4 over-all record, the Demons had one of the best seasons ever at Granite High. The outlookfor the 1963 season is excellent since there will be nine lettermen return- ing, five of whom are starters from the 1962 team.
