MEMORY The senior girls from the class of 1983 gathered together for one last time on May 6, 1983. This special evening, known traditionally as May Day, proved to be a night of joy and sadness for these girls. The joy of being with friends you ' ve known for years, and the sadness of leaving those friends and starting a new life out of high school. The evening began as parents, friends, and relatives filled the gymnasium waiting to see their favorite senior girl. The retiring Homecoming Queen, Amy Dillard Partney, was present to crown the new May Queen, Miss Laura Shanks. The May Court Attendants, who were chosen by the senior class, were Bonni Burns, Marti Greer, Becky Jackson, Chris Kessler, Kim Miller, Chris Peterson, and Kathi Teitloff. All the senior girls looked fantastic decked out in their lace and bows. The girls were entertained by several different groups who volunteered their time for the show. “For the past couple of years I ' ve performed in the May Day show, and it has always been fun, commented Missy Pennell. The senior boys and girls performed a special segment known as the senior dance. Undoubtedly the most touching part of the May Day program was the traditional May Pole dance and the Candlelight ceremony. The memories of their high school days came flooding bdck as the theme. “Memory was sung by senior Randy Dunn.
