In Memoriam In June 1970 we were saddened by the tragic death of Mr. Joseph Gonzalez, Counselor at Granite City High School, who was killed in an auto accident. Mr. Gonzalez was born on Sept. 6, 1932. He received his B.S. Ed. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. After teaching twelve years at Lindberg High School in St. Louis, Mr. Gonzalez became a Guidance Counselor at G.C.H.S. He is greatly missed by all who know him. 17

Davis, Superintendent of Schools Davls u was born on March 23, 1931, in Springfield, Missouri He at- tended Southwest Missouri State and received a B.S. in Education in 1952 After teaching Social Studies two years at Chadwick Public Schools, he transferred q?? i 8 T SS io? 0 ’ ' l here he taUght : S ° cia l Judies and Driver’s Education from 1955-1958. In 1958, he also received his Master’s degree in Educational Ad- ministration at Missouri University. Mr. Davis then became an Elementary rincipal at Mexico, Missouri. In 1960, he became a Junior High Principal in e Granite City School District. He was appointed Assistant to the Superin- tendent in 1965, and in 1966 he became Superintendent of Schools, Granite City Community Unit School District 9.
