Our Dedication We the Senior Class of 1969, dedicate the Senior section of our yearbook to the students of Granite City Senior High who have passed away. Some have died in Vietnam, and in so doing have helped to insure the safety and comfort of our lives. Others have died prematurely by disease or accident. These were dear to us, too, and we miss them. To their families and friends, we give our deepest sympathy. Senior Editor 54 MARY JO AGLES General Transfer Student From Mason City, 111. Hop scotch, stoop tag, baseball and jacks were important in our lives. Patrols were the big thing in 6th grade. Remember the day Pam got her knee caught in the banister and the janitor had to saw the banister to get her out? Soon we journeyed on to Junior High. Cen- tral, Prather, and Coolidge! Cheerleading, sports and clubs. Roger was Mr. Ir- resistable. Larry and Linda were Sweet- hearts. Ninth grade came!!! We were separated, and became bitter rivals. As usual, Coolidge won football, however, Prather bounced back to win in baseball. The newspapers were the WIGWAM and the TOM-TOM. We played the KXOK All-Stars in basket- ball. The Freshman Play was Annie, Get Your Gun. 1 16 In September of 1967, all 757 of us were reunited to make the Class of ' 69. As sophomores, we raided all the clubs pos- sible. Roger and Jolene led our class as President and Vice-president. Ruth, Kathy and Darla were Wrestling Queens. Remem- ber when Kathy and Ruth fell down the bleachers at the football game!?! We had our first taste of Student Body Elections. In our junior year, things were really different. Darla and Val led the class. One way halls didn ' t scare us anymore. Ed and Roger were the vice-presidents of the Student Body. Darla, Ruth, Barb, and Mary Ann were chosen as our cheer- leaders. We were the last class to go on the boat. Our class colors were chosen- NAVY BLUE and YELLOW!! Then it happened! We were SENIORS! ! The most important moment of our lives. Roger and Darla led the troops down the halls in this final year. Ed was the Student Body President. Chris and Darla were Harvest King and Queen. The Homecoming Play was Of Thee I Sing. Remember the parade, and Red Peppers ' car had a FLAT! WOOPS!! G.A.A. won the award for the best float. Let ' s not forget Jolene ' s big goof at the Bonfire! Our basketball team beat Collinsville!!! Our Wrestlers were the greatest ever. Remember Rick ' s match with the dog on the mat? Panic!!! May is coming soon. The time has come for the Class of ' 69. We are to graduate and leave Granite High. Games, plays, parades, and puppy love are a part of our past. The bad times and the good times are only memories of our stay at Granite High. Remember Jolene was chosen Miss School Spirit. Tears and all sorts of things! 117 1 18 Junior Class Officers 1 to r; Becky Thomason, President; Linda Fischer, Treasurer; Lynette Ward, Secretary; Cheryl Brinkmeyer, Vice-president. 1 19 Mr. Dale Those days have been filled with many memories happy and sad. Each of these have been influential in shaping our lives. But these days were filled with much more than memories. They were a period when we learned about life, and the im- portance of respect for oneself. The days have turned into years, and for seniors, the last three of these have been the highlight of our lives. This book is a small part of the memories of those years. The seniors are about to leave Granite High, and go out into a fast moving world. Some will further their education and others will marry and begin another way of life, but all will remain a part of the Class of 69 . This edition, Warrior 69 is a s ymbol of the year, the school, and of the stu- dents themselves. The editors and staff have worked very long and hard in order to make this book a successful account of the past year, and an enjoyable re- membrance of our school, Granite High.
