Seniors, Larry Diak and Joe Holder, who were also co-captains, Pat Schuman, Ken Cook, Bob Hoffek, Roger Hotson and Steve Sharden were inspirational leaders for the team. Joe Holder closed the record for his high school pitching career by compiling fourteen wins, including one no-hitter. The sophomore and J.V. team, coached by Donald Duke Brumleve, also had a very good season, posting thirteen wins and three losses. The team ' s leading hitter was Jim Cavanaugh. The pitching staff was headed by Bill Lierman, and included pitchers, Terry Kofhalt, Perry Tayon and Charles Papp. Many of these players will be of great help to Coach Joe Fedora in putting together a good varsity team again this year. 123 FIRST ROW, Left to Right: Bill Ritchie, George Moore, Frank Dwight Whittaker. McCauley, Principal of Granite City Senior High School. Mr. McCauley, who has been principal for the past seven years, previously spent twenty years as a teacher at the high school. He has worked diligently to improve our curriculum and plant. This devotion has served to establish the high reputation our school enjoys throughout the state. At this time we would like to express our appreciation to him for his unceasing devotion and enduring determination in laboring for the betterment of the school and its student body. Respectfully The Warrior Staff Coleen Weston, Editor; Pom Dyer, Assistant Editor. Producing the 1962 Warrior for the students has been a great pleasure.
