Members of the Board of Education are: Presi- dent, Mr. Homer Huber, Secretary, Mr. Robert Ed- monds, Mr. Glenn Abenroth, Mr. Herbert Bischoff, Mr. Howard Kaseberg, Mr. Cameron VanBuskirk, Mr. Harry R. Ward, Jr. The Board is elected by the people of Granite City. They are elected to direct the school business and see that the schools of Granite City are operated and maintained in the most efficient man- ner possible. When it is found necessary to build new schools, the Board presents a Bond Issue to the residents of this community. They in turn vote on the Bond Issue. Thus far, there has never been a Bond Issue that has failed to pass. The regular meetings of the Board of Education are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. 1st ROW: Mr. Edmonds, Mr. Huber, Dr. Kaiser. 2nd ROW: Mr. Ward, Mr. Abenroth, Mr. Van Buskirk, Mr. Kaseburg, and Mr. Bischoff.

' TCt ti ex, Sufee ' U tte ttte it o£ Sc£oot Regarded as one of the most outstanding young educators in the nation. Dr. Kaiser has been a teacher, principal, and administrator for 17 years. A native of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Dr. Kaiser graduated from Beaumont High School in St. Louis. He was a Navy officer in the South Pacific, Canada, and the United States in 1943 1945. In 1939 he received his Bachelor of Science from Southeast Missouri State College. He acquired his Masters degree from the University of Missouri and received his Doctorate in the University of Chicago.

We are, indeed, honored to have as our High School principal, Mr. Lawrence C. McCauley. A man of great am- bition, he is always trying to find new ways and methods to make our school a better place to attend. Before becom- ing principal, he served as a very capable teacher and coach. He has actively participated in many of our Civic and Community organizations and is dedicated to the principle of good citizenship. Mr. McCauley and members of the faculty enjoying a coffee break. 12
