FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL FOLLOWINCE THE SCHEDULE set up by the past teams the 1951 Bulldogs opened their football season by playing Zeeland High School. The team had three wins and two losses to their credit when it was time to play their old rival Wyoiiiing Park. The Vikings took a 15-0 lead before the half but the Bulldogs battled their way for six points in the last quarter. However, they did lose and Wyoining took over the jug which had been in Grandville's possession for seven years. Although Grandville will lose many of their players, Del Zandbergen, Bob Savage, Les Koster, Duke Ensing, Jack Sousley, Norm Kiel, Bill Follett, Elden Troyer. Paul Land, jim Mclntyre, Arvan Russell, Ed Slack, and Jack Groeneveld, Coach Van Hartesveldt, is looking forward to a better year next year. Grandville was represented on the All-Conference Teams by the following outstanding players, Les Koster, Norm Kiel, Del Zandbergen, and Bob Savage. jack Sousley and Duke Ensing were given Honorable Mention. 44

The Bulldog tive played sixteen games and lost only tour of them, three ot' which were tonferente games. The Grand Rapids Press places Duke Ensing, who was fourth highest point maker in the league, Del Zandbergen, and jack Sousley who were among the top ten high stsorers, on the All-CkJnt'ei'ente Team. This .Llaxe Grandville the added honor of heing the only school with three hoys on this team. Norm Kiel and lfred Renaud were given honorahle mention. Mr, Veenlcamp will lose most of his team via graduation but he has good material coming from the setond team so his outlook lor the next year is hright.
