l DEBATE DifimT1Nt: this year was resumed with a great deal of enthusiasm and high hopes for the future. The topic this year was .1 very ditlicult one for high school students in that it was so broad. Resolved: The I lnited States should reiect the Welfare State. Nevertheless. they faced the future undaunted until our dehaters were faced with their first audience at Creston High School, XVith Mr. Ponstein as their yery ahle coach, much valuable knowledge was gained even though they were not victors as often as they had hoped. Although they are losing two of their regular dehate niemhers this year they are looking forward to next year when they hope to win over those who won this year. SPEECH THIS M0'1 i'0 of the Speech Class could truthfully have heen Wet are willing . XX'hc-never anyone wanted something special in this line all they had to do was to see the speech tlass about it. Under the capable direction of Mrs. Moody one could always feel confident that it would be well done. There were speeches written and given for Armistice Day and Thanksgiving Day to say nothing about the entertaining Christmas program they prepared for the members of the student body.
