That was the lbegin- ning of four long years of work for most of us. In the course of time a few left us, but more joined the group and so kept the grand total 35. Sepqi tember we were really made a part of the school by being initiated. Ironic as it may seem, the Fresh- men seemed to enjoy the affair more than the Sen- iors! We chose Harold Poe for president, and Miss Suddath for sponsor. We all managed to struggle through Algebra, or math as the case might be, and May 21, we found ourselves bereft of the title nGreen Freshmen.N Miss Suddath served us so well that we took her the second year for our counselor. Laroy Gann's efforts were at long last rewarded-ehe was made class president. The twenty-seven who were left got through the year rather quietly, and without too many mishaps. Then came the Junior year. We all remember the Sunday we slaved over the original short story! Mrs. Adams left before the term paper was due, but ten term papers,to get her to stay, would 'gladly have been written. But that was not to be, so we expressed our appreciation and regard for her by an appropriate gift. Arlin McMillan served us well as class president. With the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Scott, we decided to give a nicer banquet than Grandview ever had knownbefore. lt was financed by the annual Jr. Class play WCome Rain or Shinen, and a Jr. Benefit'Program which consisted of two one-act plays,, HThe Lucky Accidentu and nThe Tiger's Clawn, and several musical numbers. We decided that a school paper would help everyone keep up on the latest news, sopNThe Leadern under Miss Wilbur's direction was published biwmonthly. January A, the Jrs. received their class rings and .sm gf f. fziifvlriff . 1472 .275 , fi TAT 'Q f, ,T l':f.'.f,ZL ,117f,:ii.:.:fL.n,4...,,, , .. 5.1, ig, 2 7.3. X1 -Q felt that they were the same as alumni then. f Everything must come to a close and our Jun- +fior days were finally over. Not wishing to fall be SQhind en anything, we started to work on the year- qabook almost immediately. The main responsibility Qfwas placed in the capable hands of Dorothy Shortino Qimand Melba White. Miss Mittendorf was chosen to fansponsor the class, and Buford Ray was elected for , 4- V' Q :i1'Ji Q Zggpresident. November 6 we presented Urns Mad 'Hat- gigtersn, over which we had slaved for several weeks. giQNovember 8, we Seniors dressed in our Sunday best Sdiand honored Montague's Studio by letting them take Ky? gigour pictures. About the middle of the year wefin- gegally compromised, and arranged a class party--the A rgggfirst one we had had all year. n aw? QQQ Shortly after the holidays, two members of the QHgclass decided to say Ngoodbyen, and go out into the tigworld to seek their fortunes, Then with the meas- ???uring for caps and gowns, everyone's thoughts be- Qiggan to turn toward commencement. As the time draws ffmcloser for us to leave, we think of all the good Wgitimes we had together, and as we separate and each Qgggo our way, we do so Knowing that dear old G. H.
