Y 1926-VIKING-1927 4' - - .y Jfaretnell, Zlaigb Scbuul Bays! HOSE high school days-golden days-are gone now forever, but they will linger a long time, perhaps forever, in our memory. Personally I will be able to look back upon mine with joy, even tho I have become separated from my first class. My last two years at G. V. C. have been priceless to me. I have learned a great deal, not so much from text books perhaps but merely from being in contact with my fellow students and en- joying that spirit which influences our life here. I often used to wonder why the last day of high-school was called com- mencement day. It seemed to me that it was rather the finish of something. But of course it is easy to see that commencement is quite an appropriate term to use. Commencement-upon life's journey-we have left our high- school to enter life's school, if we have not already done so. The question is then: are we prepared? Has our high-school education paved the way for our future days? I dare say it has helped. Altho-again I emphasize that all our knowledge need not be book knowledge. Nature and our every day surroundings are great books-open to everyone who wishes to peep into them. If our daily contact with nature and our comrades has caused us to experience that life really is worth living it has not been in vain. For as Ibsen says, To live is an art. My wish for G. V. C. is that the same spirit which has prevailed may continue to do so as long as it stands and may it inspire in the hearts of many a desire to live and be of service to others. -A Senior- jgii ca ...g4-.

1926-VIKING-1927 -4--TA -H - 4 J r- ilpkke! A VAD er lykke? May 8, 1927. Alma Pedersen. .-L5T
