The main reason for the build- ig program was the over- rowded situation at both chools. Proposed construction will clude a new middle school, with minimum of eight classrooms, a ew athletic field house, and mplete renovation, air condi- ning, and heating of the pres- , t elementary school. The plans for the new middle ighool were drawn up by Gary leep, architect for Swanson ester Wilson Claycomb of Dal- s. Superintendent Gailen Stewart id it would be about six months fore any construction could gin, with the new and remod- d facilities ready for use by the ginning of the 1980 fallterm. Looking over plans for the new middle school are superintendent, Gailen Stew- art, and principal, Gerald Gilbert. Jock Phillips Keeps GSHS Looking Good i the 14 years Mr. Jack Phillips been at GSHS, he has been ponsible for keeping the ool looking good. ack has lived in Grand Saline 25 years, and he says he really s Grand Saline and Grand ne High School. ports is one of Jack's major rests. He likes going to GS ball games and other sports irs, too. As a Dallas Cowboy fan, Jack is always ready to praise the Cowboys and discuss their latestgame. Another of Jack's interests is fishing, and just going to the lake to relax. Even when he doesn't catch any fish, he enjoys the qui- etness and the surroundings at the lake. Jack's duties of the day include getting to the school and unlock- ing the doors early in the morn- Changing burned-out light bulbs is just one of the many duties Jack performs in retaining the appearance and efficiency of the school. Jack relaxes for a moment after sweeping off the front walk of the school. :Ss ing. He fills the coke machine and candy machines so there will be enough for lunchtime. He keeps the classrooms clean and makes sure everything is in order. He also keeps the campus neat, with the help of Norman Gosset and Russell Scroggins, freshmen. Jack says he likes the work he does and being with the people at GSHS. Personnel 95
