Ready to rebound, Mark Allen waits his shooting ability Improving their skills was the JV Boys Improve Their Game under the Qoal as bon Maxfield shows - f goal of the junior varsity boys basketball team, and they suc- ceeded very well. Nearly all of the JV players played on last year's freshman team, which held a season record of O-9. With lots of room for improvement, the team brought their win-loss record up to 7-10. Ot the ten games they lost, seven were played to a fairly close final score. The area where the most improvement was made was in the team's ball handling, espe- cially passing and dribbling. Coach Terry Putman compli- mented the team on the way they cooperated and worked together. He said, No one per- son was the high point player in every game, all of the play- ers spread it around pretty evenly. Racing down court, Tony Veach C123 heads for the goal, while Floger Bryant C103 guards the opponent. 74 JV Boys Basketball E 2 1' l a 4 . l p. Q., :: fag ,it I M, Q ,9 ts y Q

Small Team The saying that the finer things come in small packages was proven true once again by the JV girls basketball team. Their coach, Brenda Davidson, stated that we may have not had a large team, but I wouldn't have taken a larger team over them - because they worked hard and did their best and that's what it takes before you can become good at any- thing. With only two ofthe players having any experience of full court play, the team was inex- perienced in some areasg how- ever, cooperation, spirit, and teamwork was good and the team showed this in their pass- ing. The girls ended the season with a 6-10 record, winning four pre-district games and two district games. Coach David- son said that the best game the team played was the district game with Canton. They seemed to finally understand what they were outthere for. A tense moment passes in the Kemp game as Laura Bates and Bobigene Dollarhyde wait for the outcome of the shot by Cindy Sutton. Trying to get the ball in Indian territory, Patty German races down the court while fellow teammates assist in the play. 76 Girls JV Basketball Makes Big Gains i-V, -S.
