Three Receive All-District Recognition Things like hustle, don't look at the ball while you dribble, and that'll be three laps, could be heard at all the girls varsity basketball practices. lt took all the concentration and extra work that Kerri Willingham, first team All-Districtg Deana Bates and Debra Jarmon, second team All-District, could put forth to be selected as members of these teams. ln addition to talent and ability, an important qualification for All- District is the desire to work together as ateam. dia 72 Girls Varsity Basketball Varsity girls basketball team members are ffront rowl Debbie Morgan, Coach Brenda Davidson, Kerri Willingham, fsecoiid rowj Melinda Maciel, Pennie Crocker, Lisa Car- rollg Cback rowj Patty German, Debra Jar- mon, Deana Bates, and Linda Eddy. Even though we were not top in our district, the girls had tit best attitude in the district. After the rebound, James Anderson and Adam Richey fight against Van for the possession of the ball. Jumping high to avoid the defense, Danny Rodgers tries for 2 points against Alba- Golden. Averaging 63 points per game to the opponents 52, the Indians finished with a 20-9 season record. ln district play, they were second, losing only two games, both to Wills Point. Many advantages helped the team earn their stripes. Of five returning Iettermen, three were starters. Strong points for the team were outside shooting, defense, ballhandling and team- work. Strong competitors in the dis- trict, Malakoff and Wills Point, depended more on individual play, while the Indian team relied more on team play. Team members honored were Ronnie Williams and Adam Richey making First Team All-Dis- trict and Thomas Dicherson and James Anderson making Honora- ble Mention All-District.
