Jumping on a trampoline is Tracy Ci houn's favorite exercise in second peril p.e. class. Sheetrocl Junior and senior boys with 4 interest in construction four their way into the building tradi class. A total of twenty-four bo were approved for the mornir and afternoon classes whic together were responsible for tl building of a house in Stadiu Addition. At the first of the school yea Mr. Tommy Davis, building tradi teacher, decided which hou: the class was going to build. The boys learned how to rea blueprints so they could unde stand what they would be doing. ieeps Falling Every boy learned each phase if building a house: how to hang oors, cut rafters, hang shee- tock, and paint. People from out- ide the school did the taping and iedding, plumbing, and bricking. ln cases of bad weather the ioys stayed at the shop and :leaned it up. lf it was raining, hey stayed at the house and vorked on the inside. Sometimes hey were delayed when they had o wait on supplies. These times vere also spent cleaning the thop and the house. i When the house was finished, it bones in health class, Miss Davidson holds the attention of ammy Gipson, Virginia Herring, and Pesnell. In second period p.e. class, Mr. Parks ref- erees a basketball game. on My Head was auctioned off and the people with the highest bid got the house. In this class, many boys learned skills that could lead them to become carpenters. Mr. Davis said one-third of his students had become carpenters, and many others went to college to learn more about carpentry. In the two-quarter health class, students studied about their bod- ies. They had Mrs. Velma Duke, the school nurse, as a guest speaker. They also gave individ- ual reports on diseases.
