We're going to win is the theme of Pat Day's fantastic pep talk at the Grand Saline vs Wills Point pep rally, Slow dancin' swaying to the music, Wil- liam Vess and Phyllis Hamblin have a blast at a victory after a football game. A variety of emotions are expressed at a pep rally by Cfrontj Donna Roden, Kerri Willingham, Penny Crocker, Cyd Shue- make, Linda Eddy, Cbackj Sharon Dicken- son, Donna Barnes, Sherry Feltman, and Renee Doss. Many fun, spirit-boosting activi- ties that the entire student body and football team participated in were devised by the cheerlead- ers. The chain contest had many people digging into their pockets for money so their class could win. The class that dug the far- thest and won was the junior class. Many students dressed up in rolled up jeans, leather jackets, bobby socks, and poodle skirts for50's day, Western day brought out cow- boys and cowgirls, dressed in jeans, boots, belts with fancy buckles, and hats. At a spirit-raising pep rally many football players kicked the tiger in the tail so much that the tail broke. The most hilarious had to be the banana-eating contest which was part of Going Bananas week. Several boys volunteered to compete in the contest while girl volunteers crammed their mouths full of as many bananas as possible. The team that won was Brent O'Bannon and Kerri Willingham. Wanna Say It on a T Shirt Doing your own thing set the style for clothes. Mainly, people wore whatever they liked and felt comfortable in. One of the biggest styles for girls was rabbit fur coats. Some wore patch work, and some wore solid colors. But all were furry and warm, and the girls loved them. Straight-legged jeans made it on the scene with high heel shoes. Many girls rolled up their jeans, some preferred not to, but all ofthe girls liked them. T-shirts with all sorts of sayings and artwork were more popular than anything else for just about allthe students. Some noticeable sayings see around school were lt's okay l'i in the Band, Hullabaloc Caneck, Caneckj' Hook 'ei Horns, HBeer drinkers make be ter lovers, l'll try anything onc - maybe twice, Kiss me - don't smoke, Goto Hell work l'm a senior, I never get lo: cause everyone always tells m where to go, and Take this jo and shove it. Changing styles are evident with the hig heel shoes and rolled up jeans worn t Margie Griffin and Julie Varnado.
