Some barely made it ith band-aids and no clothes, While studying parenthood, family living students were given hard-boiled eggs with faces drawn on them as babies. They were told to attend the egg as if it were a new-born baby. Mrs. Whatley, family living instructor, told each of the stu- dents that if they were going out and could not carry their chil- dren with them, they were to hire a baby-sitter and pay him or her a nickel an hour. Students Come From Far Away Places Watching camel races and riding Arabian horses were two of the unusual attractions for Tamara Sher- burn when she lived in Sau- dia Arabia during her eighth- grade year. She also found it interest- ing to shop for gifts and unu- sual items at the souk Cmar- ketj. Spending time sunning at the beach and going on all-day Dow trips off the coast are among her memo- ries of her year in Saudia Arabia. Tamara has visited France, Germany, Rome, and Hong Kong, in addition to the states of Maryland, Kansas, and South Carolina. Her father, a colonel in the U.S. Army, is currently sta- tioned in Washington, D.C., where she plans to visit when school is out. She has lived with her grandmother in GS to attend school her senior year. Other students who have lived in far-away places are Ralph, Lisa, and Jeffrey Car- roll, who were in Alaska. Their family lived, in a two- room log cabin for six months while their father worked on the Alaskan pipe line. For enjoyment Lisa and her brothers swam in 60- degree water, fished, and hunted bears, moose, and rabbits. They also hiked a lot l l 0 World Travelers V I I l i l 5 E 4 l l E World traveler, Tamara Sherburn, showf the treasures she collected in difteren countries. I I l t l P H l V I xl l n l
