aladacto Um SCQQQA, Qnwumq, Parents Teachers and Friends We are gathered here tonight for one of the most important occasions IH the lives of thrs graduatlng class We have gone to school for twelve years Maybe not all of those years were in Grand Rapids but we are satisfred in knowing that we are graduating from this school The memory of our school days will always hnger in our hearts We will never forget our teachers or classmates Their character and pesonahty will always be remembered We have been looking forward to this night either with eagemess or sorrow We are a httle hazy of our plans for we know not what lies ahead We have broken away from the protection of our teachers and parents Their guldance and leadership have molded us into what we are now Many sublects we have taken in our hrgh school years will help us to get an ideal Job in some profession or business Through thrs Job we should try to r1se in our position Everyore has the desire to become successful and pros perous but we can have this only through determination and will power Our common sense and conscience Wlll tell us what we should and must do to reach our goal in life They may give ideas that are useful Some of the representatives in the class of 52 have the makings of doctors nurses teachers lawyers and men of other vocations Our employers wrll expect the best from each of us We cannot let the other fellow do it as is so often done in school An employee should do his work as efficiently as he knows how ln order to rise to the top of our ladder of success we should never glve up by overlooking the hardships that befall us Through our relationship with our teachers we have learned to solve problems and to be pleasant and understandmg Being o: good American citizen has a lot of influence on what kind of position we will fmd to serve as our life work We should keep trylng to be a lrttle better than we were before Just like the Charnbered Nautilus that was wrrtten by Qliver Wendell Holmes The last verse very well expresses our desires Build thee more stately mansions O my soul as the swlft seasons roll' Leave thy low vaulted past' Let each new temple nobler than the last Shut thee from heaven wlth a dome more vast Till thou at length art free Leaving thlne out grown shell by hte s unresting sea' Marie Carter I ' I Seek friends that will be considerate and helpful throughout your lives.
