glam Pllophacq, On May 18 l955 I declded to take a l1ttle vacatron I decrded to take a tr1p through the Un1ted States I decrded upon dr1v1ng so I could see more scenery After many hours of packmg and preparlng for my trtp and seerng that my car was rn t1p top shape I was ready to leave on Iune lst whlch turned out to be a glor1ous day Upon arr1v1ng rn Toledo I declded to shop for some last mtnute 1tems Whlle 1n a Drug store purchas1ng some f1rst a1d supplres I spotted a g1rl drlnkmg a soda The second glance told me 1t was one of my old classmates Dolores Helsmg After a few mmutes of greet 1ng we got down to a good chat She told me she was a student nurse at St Vtncent Hosprtal rn Toledo After chatttng w1th Dolores I notrced how the t1me was flyrng so I bade her goodbye as I wanted to arr1ve 1n Pennsylvanla before mrdnrght I arrlved tn Phlladelphra late that evenlng very tlred and hungry Lookmg for a hotel I declded to stay at the Statler whtch was very comfortable and convenlent The followrng mornrng I awoke late and was ravlshmgly hungry Whlle lookrng for a res taurant 1n whrch to eat I nottced a blg burldtng berng constructed Whrle gazmg at the large constructton I nottced a slgn whrch read D Thomas My CUYIOSIIY got the best of me and upon 1nqu1r1ng w1th1n I dlscovered 1t was the same Dean Thomas I graduated wrth back rn 52 Dean and I had a pleasant l1ttle chat and I dtscovered Lester Huffman was a telegraph operator out 1n Colorado and Iohn Grazf was an Electrlcal Engmeer tn New York Crty He was marrred to Lyn Rockle a well known movre actress and was dolng very well for hlmself 1n the electrrcal busrness After d1n1ng wlth Dean I checked out of my hotel and started my lourney to West V1rg1n1a I stopped rn Appalachla 1n the afternoon a quret lrttle town for lunch I spred a pleasant lookmg restaurant called Dlck s Chrcken House After eatrng a del1c1ous chrcken dm ner I went to the reglster to pay and dlscovered I only had IOU dollar brlls Explamxng to the waltress that I was travelmq and had no smaller denom1nat1ons wlth me she drsmrssed herself to call the owner To my utter surprtse 1t was Rlchard Snyder another graduate of 52 told me he was the owner of a Cham of res taurants and whlle at a conventlon rn Wash lngton DC he dlscovered that Mane Carter was a prlvate secretary to a large paper con cern After leavrng Rrchard I 1ourneyed on to Fort Knox Kentucky VISIIIHQ my cousrn who was statloned there Lookmg up my coustn I drscovered Walter Lowe another graduate of 52 They were taktng therr baslc together Drck After spendlng a pleasant day wlth them Walter tnformed me that they had seen an ex Clllflq game the nrght before Kentucky U versus Umverslty of West Vlrquua Kentucky beatmg by twelve polnts To my great surprlse the two top players were none other than Don T and Ioe K students at Kentucky U After leavrng Kentucky I Journeyed to South Caro l1na to look up an old classmate Mrs Brushaber formerly Darlene Mc Kenzle They had a beau trful httle home on the outsklrts of the naval base Talk1ng to Darlene I was told that Ellen W now Mrs Fred Pauff was lrvrng rn Weston Ohlo and had her own beauty parlor 1n her home and had ct boomtng buslness Her hus band was now a Lt 1n the Marrnes After spendlng a couple of days wlth Darlene I Journeyed on to Florrda Arr1v1ng 1n Pensacola I drscovered I had a flat t1re Some men were laymg brrcks at the house tn front of whrch I stopped I was havlng dtfftcultres rn changmg my t1re so a couple of men came out to help me Whtle they were chang1ng the t1re I d1s covered one of them to be Gordon G another graduate of 52 He was a brrck layer for a large construct1on frrm rn Pensacola Whrle chattlng w1th Gordle I found that Roger Wade was a carpenter tn Ill1no1s and Thomas M was study1ng to be a speaker at BGU Prom what Gordre heard he was makrng qurte a few speeches already After thankmg Gordle for chang1ng my t1re I traveled on My next stop was rn Houston Texas I stopped to do some shopprng and whrle there I ran mto Dons Pugh fMrs Brllsl Whrle at lunch Dorrs told me they were lrvrng at base She told me Mary Dougherty was a full t1me nurse 1n Marne and Karlyn Iohnston was a housewrfe 1n south ern Arrzona Her husband was a blg cattle owner and they owned a beaut1ful ranch and a modern ranch nome Departrng from Dons I traveled on to Cahfornra and stopped at San Francrsco There I attended an art exh1b1t and met a famous arttst none other than Rollin Rhoads He was dorng wonders wlth h1s art1st1c ab1l1ty He lnformed me Paul L was an owner of a large farm IH Kansas and was dotng well rn the cattle branch Frank V was 1n the Navy statroned at San Dlego Iourneymg back home to B G I stopped at G R havmg not been there for three years I found that Plul W was a partner rn hrs Dad s seed bustness I drove out to see Phll We had a pleasant talk and I told hlm all the news of the 52 graduates except for Dick I Phll told me he was golng to Ohlo U where he was study1ng agrlculture
