Twice a week the girls meet to learn and enjoy the game of their choice. Badminton seems to fascinate .laysee girls and is a game of great speed and skill. Of course, archery holds its usual attraction, and many of the girls become tops before the end of the semester. Rhythm is another favorite of the girls at laysee. Those who join are particularly interested in achieving grace and poise, but fun and good exercise is found in country dancing. Many a would-be tennis champion is a great enthusiast of paddle-tennis, which is the foundation of tennis. The girls certainly show their stuff in the volley ball classes. Lei! to right-Standing: Marquardt, Runnells, Anderson, Coach Veenboer, Barnaby, Cook, and Frazier. Kneeling: Guerin, Hremble, Niewold, Vander Leest, and Inman. All through the fall and winter, Elbert Veenboer, Junior Col- lege's able and competent coach, worked with the girls' tennis team in the gym. There was an unusually large turnout this year with a number of hopeful prospects. The top four girls from last year's team returned again this year. They are Betty Barnaby, Loraine Anderson, Carol Frazier, and Glenna Moore. Enthusiasm was high this spring, and the girls were smashing the overheads and drives with vicious strokes. The team proved to be tough competition.
