EGINNING the fall semester by election of officers, the Freshman Class of 1947 was off to a good start. Those voted into office were Jack Hultman, president, John Braley, vice-president, Ben De Groot, treasurer, and Carol Marquardt, secretary, with Miss Hrumheuer and Miss Ander- son as class advisers. On Friday, February 14, a Valentine dance, the Sweetheart Swing, was presented by the Freshman Class. With Sue Shera and John Steketee as co- chairmen, the dance featuring Ray Bush and his orchestra was a success. The Freshman Class presented a giit of money to the Memorial Campus Fund for the purchase of nineteen sandstone benches for the campus. The class also gave to the Freshman Scholarship Fund and to the Olympian. This money was the pro- ceeds of the class dues and of the dance. To round out the year, the Freshman Class planned a class picnic to be held in the spring.
