Standing: John Kuiper, Peter Northouse, C. lbershof, John Hofstra, Joe Orlebeke, Sidney DeYoung, assistant sec- retary-treasurer. Seated: Alfred Gelderloos, secretary: Bernard Velzen, President, Henry Van Timmeren, Vice-President, Charles I E BCAQC To the Graduating Classes of i959 Each year the Board takes great pleasure in extending its sincere congratulations upon the completion of your high school education. Du ring the past three years you have been given an opportunity for study, discussion, self-expression, contemplation, and meditation, all this for the express purpose of preparing for the final examinations and ultimately for graduation. However, graduation or commencement is not the end but the beginning, the beginning of great responsibilities that are now placed upon you because of the fact that you have re- ceived your education in a Christian school. ln effect, the very future of the Christian school system, under God, depends on you its graduates. Will you be willing to uphold, maintain, and support your schools in the future as God gives you the ability to do so? Are you willing now to pray that the real purpose of distinctive Christian Education may never become clouded, or ever lost completely among the present day trends to be like unto the world in all things? The influence of your Alma Mater on the world today depends greatly on your performing lifes duties faithfully and reverently, not for the praise of men or for payment in material things, but all to the glory of God. A missionary, home on furlough, once told how she was teaching a group of children one day. ln telling the story of Jesus, how he lived and died for His own, she brought out, bit by bit, incidents showing His character. One child, listening intently, blurted out eagerly, I know Him, He lives near us. Can others see Christ in you? That is what the training you have received should accomplish. We may not only wish that you have prosperity, honor, fame, and freedom from care. All these are pleasant to have, but they are connected with time, things which can ber seen for a while and soon disappear, as they are the treasures of this earth. Our prayer for you is that Christ may dwell in your hearts, and that you may know the ioy unspeakable, and in all things may you be more than conquerors through Him that loved you. Schrader, treasurer. Alfred G. Gelderloos, Secretary.
