The Senior class is grateful for the patience which Mr. Post has invested in us and for the wise counseling he has afforded us. Our Christian youth has been deeply influenced by the presence of Mr. Post. fm., MR. M. H. DE VROOME Nowhere can one find a more cap- able registrar than Mr. M. H. De Vroome. The future success of many a student can be attributed to the guiding in correct courses of Mr. De Vroome. A great debt of gratitude is owed to the man who year after year has carefully mapped our courses. Every student during his stay at Christian High comes into contact with our able assistant principal Mr I P Hoekenga Mr Hoekenga has helped many a student out of a perplexing situation by taking time out to talk things over His frtendly attitude has won the confidence of everyone with whom he has come into contact Our deep sense of gratitude goes out to a man who has been a true friend dur ing our stay at Christian High it t M y.,yhy . . at ' in K Y ! . ll' 1 5. Sponsor The Christian High School Ladies Circle has been active almost as long as the school has been in existence and has seen it grow from a single building with a small group of students to its present impressive size. During all those years the Circle has given financial assistance to the school. Besides being responsible for the Kitchen there are gifts to the library and to the audio-visual program. The bulk of the gifts has been to the General Fund and to spccial drives. Our money is raised through the preparation of meals through sales of goods made and donated by members and through hostess dinners sponsored by church groups. Needless to say this can result only from diligent and faithful work oi all: officers committees and members. The Circle aims to promote among its members a better understanding of Christian secondary education. Members are vitally interested in the instruc- tion our school offers. During the past year our Circle has enjoyed many vocal and instrumental numbers from the music department. The speech class entertained with a sketch a play and some individual numbers by students. We have been inspired by speakers and have enjoyed a Spring Silver Tea. These good things are available to all mothers of Christian High Students. Why not join us? Mrs. D. F. As a Council it seeks to serve the entire student body in promoting a good school spirit. It is eager to be of service to any student or group of students within its given rights. The Council assumes the responsibility of representing the students at certain public functions. Among other activities, this year's Council published the Student Guide, drew up a new constitution, sponsored a S2000 drive for the new gym, presented periodically a chapel service, and participated in chapel exchanges with other local Christian High schools. Meetings are held regularly every Thursday during the noon hour. PHYTOZOA NS The Phytozoan Club has become reorganized after many years of inactivity. The purpose of the club is to promote leadership, scholarship, character, and serv- ice among the students of Christian High. The members of the club are chosen from the junior and senior classes, and are chosen on the basis of scholarship and citizenship. A high scholastic average must be maintained. Miss H. Zandstra and Mr. I. P. Hoekinga are the clubs' capable leaders. Two parties or outings are usually held each year. At the fall outing, a hayride, the new members were properly initiated, and an en- joyable time was had by all. Parnassus is a club for girls who are inter- ested in improving their writing ability. To do this, the members write, either on an assigned topic or in a definite literary style, for every meeting. The selections are read at the meet- ings and constructive and' destructive criticism are showered upon the author. To keep acquaintance with writers of high school age, each member subscribes to the Literary Cavalcade, a scholastic publication for teen-age writers. The Alumnae party in the spring is one of the high-lights of our special meetings. We feel that our club combines actual in- dividual benefits to the serious member with the pleasures of friendships. The club, with a membership of thirty, meets regularly every iwo weeks to study symphonies, to learn about the lives and works of great composers, and to see musical films. An outstanding meeting was the Faculty Tea which was given to acquaint the teachers with the new Hi-fidelity record player in the music room. The chief aim of the club members is not only to learn more about music, but also to appreciate good music. The Christian Service Club consists of all members of the student body who have an interest in promoting Christian fellowship and activity in preparation for Christian vocations and careers. Some of its meetings are of a more social character, others of the type that promote some specific area of the work of the King- dom of God in which young Christians can now and will in the future participate. The club conducts chapel services, and an annual hymn sing. The traditional club banquet comes in the spring of the year. CHRIS TIAN .WQQ 4 ,N ,Z 4 A 1 f 1, ' M x In N ' 1- -' '.' Some of the projects of the group are part of a national or international pro- gram. Mr. Vryhof carried on with the help of Mr. Boelema during basketball season. ln the spring we went through radio station WFUR and also had a series of films on radio theory. The high point of the year for most of us probably came in the fall when we had an amateur radio station at school. Les Wallinga brought in his transmitter after an aerial had been put up on the roof. Then during noon hour and after school Christian High was on the air. We invited others in from the hall and gave them their first chance to speak over the air. lt is hoped that someday a permanent station can be set up at our school.
