A DEDICATION The 1987 yearbook staff would like to dedicate the 1987 Superlark to Charlotte Hosmer. Not only was she our advisor last year, but she was also our friend. She may never know how muchof an impact she made on us or how much she helped us, but we hope this will show you what we mean. Thank you for putting up with us. Top: Tyler Glynn CARNIVAL ’87 ALMOST PARADISE J s CLASS OF ’87 CLASS PROPHESY In ten years, the class of 1987 will gather for its tenth year anniversary. Alot of things have changed and most of these people have changed. The 1987 Superlark staff took a peak into the future and this is what we see ... Chuck Bly can be seen driving a Rolls Royce. He's become a multi millionaire after opening a chain of Health Food stores. Dan Bush is flurishing as well since he's just opened his third Savings and Loan. On the other hand there’s Theresa Claeys who turned down a job as a stewardess for TWA to be re- elected the GMHS Homecoming Queen for the 10th year in a row! Diane Cornwell is hardly ever seen. She is living in the inner- most jungles of the Congo, working as a Dietician. Troy Gilbert owns a chain of Prep stores. Tyler Glynn still works at the Motor Mart. Sheila Hanson still has her old red car and it even runs! Terry Hiscocks is now principal at GMHS and has increased his dad’s salary. We heard a rumor that Kimm Hoefs’ husband wired her mouth shut permanently but we haven't heard from her to verify this yet. Chris Hopp is still coming to play practices to make Mr. C. angry. Candee Johnson was just awarded her 5th gold record after beating out Whitney Houston on the record charts. Vern Kerns is a warden at St. Cloud Correctional Institu- tion. Gaylan Lamp has a chauffered limousine. He's running for congress in the upcoming election. Jay Minnich works for the humane society and moonlights as a detective on a popular television show. They’re saying that Jarred Nesbitt is the next “Dan Rather” for the CBS news but he may sign a contract to replace David Letterman instead. Sue Olson is 6 feet tall and the new Chief of Police in Rochester. Amy Rieger turned into a party animal in college. Nancy Steinkamp became the first woman Pope. Jodi Westphal married Dan and has 17 kids. Presently, she is writing her first book on how to cope with 17 kids. Paul Wytaske has green hair and sings with a punk rock group in England called the “Incandescent Bulbs. Although he says he’s doing well we've heard he's been looking into giving up show business and pursuing a career as a social worker. Good Luck Gang!! See you in 10 years!! SENIOR F.H.A. Row 1: D. Amy Rieger was District president, Sheila Hanson was a member of Pep Squad and Connie Freese was on the KIDS KORP board. Elaine Cornwell and Dawn Elit earned a call-back at the state meeting. Our activities included a bonfire and hay ride, rummage sale, trip to Chanhassen to see “My Fair Lady”, faculty breakfast. Carnation sale, Cancer telethon number and AAE participation. We won a trophy at both the district and state competition. As a community service we sold T-shirts commemoration Grand Meadow’s 125th Anniversary. Ila Johnson Advisor 38 Row 1: B. Vanatta, K. Robyn Beach-our two district advance winners. This year’s speech team of 15 students from grades 7-12 had a very active and successful year. In addition to the regular Minnesota State High School League contests, members also competed in two invitationals. Jenny Kreutzman started the season off by winning first place in Serious Drama at the Lewiston Invita- tional tournament. 13 contestants ad- vanced from the sub-district to the district contest where Jenny Kreutzman took 3rd in Serious Drama and Robyn Beach won the district championship in Storytelling. Robyn went on to place 5th in the region. Although the team loses three seniors- Amy Rieger, Sheila Hanson, and Jarred Nesbitt it is hoped that next year will be even more successful. More than ever before. Homecoming was the first performance with a half-time presentation. With winter came our Christmas Concert on Dec. 21st. During this time, instrumentalists were preparing for District Solo and Ensemble contest and Large Group Contest. Four soloists received a star rating. The Senior Band was only 2 points away from receiving a star rating. The Jazz Band did a super job performing for the annual Pops concert on March 12. The jazz band later in the year traveled to Preston for a concert and also performed for our elementary students. Woody Herman and His Young Thundering Herd was the highlight of the year. The Jr. Band performed on April 28 and the Sr. Band on May 7. Graduation. Memorial Day. a trip to Valley Fair and the summer program finished the band year in early July. It truly was a very good and productive year for the band. Mr Davidson. Band Director LuAnn DeWall-Majorette 44 Row 1: E Cornwell. L DeWall. P Davis. S. Nesbitt. C Bly Row 2: A Rieger. T. Calkins. This year’s choir consisted of 38 members and was one of the larger choirs in the past five years. Many choir members took solos and groups to contest. Over half of them starred and went on to state contest. This is an outstanding percentage! Although the choir did not do as well at contest as it has in the past we had a good year in our concerts.
