Starting the year, the Football Pep Band played at all the home games and put on a half-time show for Homecoming. Preparations for the Christmas Concert were assisted by Mr. Ron Secdorff and Mr. Craig Richmond in the absence of Mr. Audiss. Following the Christmas Concert came the Band's busiest time with District Solo-Ensemble and Large Group Contests and Basket- ball Pep Band in early spring. State Solo-Fnsemble Contest in May found 23 GM High School Bandsmen participating at Rochester. Cindy Scedorff starred at the state level with her oboe solo. The Junior and Senior Bands and the Jazz Lab played the Spring Concert in early May and the Jazz Lab made a special performance in a night-club style concert in late May. Graduation and four spring parades finished the band season in early June. The 75- 76 band year can be classified as successful with a variety of experiences and achievements for most members. I. This year’s annual staff was a treat for me personally to work with. Our small but hard working organization has had the task of putt- ing together the formal record of the 1975-1976 school year. This year we are losing our editor in chief for the past two years and staff mem- ber for the past four. Deb Jahns. 1 would like to thank her on behalf of the staff and my- self for her concern, dedication, sweat, and humor in producing this book. Char Lemke, advisor Char Blanchard, Lynn Peterson, Lisa Davis, Ann Mori, Nancy Mori, and Lisa Baldus. I 9 The 1975 fall production was REVUE UNIQUE by David Lloyd Crowder. It was a collection of five humorous skits that satirize various aspects in our modern society. “The Phone Callers” featured Lisa Baldus, Lynn Petersen, Keith Sticnkamp, and Wayne Jacobson in 4 hilariously mixed up conversations in phone booths. “How to Write for TV” demonstrated the way in which a script is turned into mayhem and madness. Taking roles in this skit were Leah Bussell, Donna Reidemann. Cindy Seedorff, John Snyder, and Todd Potas. Kim Snyder, Deb Jahns, and Shelly Boultinghouse presented a parody of TV soap operas in “Strife Faces Jan.” Glen Goodsell played a fast talking car salesman in “TV Special. Brenda Goodsell, Roger Hoefs, and Barb Peterson joined Glen in the skit. Greg Grunsted played a detective and Shelly Boultinghouse played a worried mother in “Real Life.” 26 The spring all-school play was STRANGE BOARDERS by George Batson and Jack Kirkland. The plot centers around a scatterbrained lady who runs a boarding-house. Out of her goodness, Cordelia (Lisa Baldus) has adopted two girls Candy (Brenda Goodsell) and Glory (Cindy Seedorff)-practically adopted a de- lightful sea captain (Keith Stienkamp), and the “Professor” (Ken Stuwe)- both of them, like herself, impractical. The play revolves around the efforts of an amusing band of bank robbers to elude the police in nearby Boston and get away with $10,000 in cash, which is brought to Cordelia’s home by Amity (Char Blanchard) and Priscilla (Deb Jahns) Haines, who take rooms as respectable school teachers. To Cordelia’s home also come Smiley (Greg Grunsted), a sad faced thug, Joey (Ladd Baldus), a petty gangster, and the “Deacon (Wayne Jacobson), a fellow with much false piety and a benign manner. The gangsters having seized the money stolen by the “brains” of the band, attempt to hide from their leader and keep the money themselves. Boston Benny (Glen Goodsell), the “brains”, unexpectedly appears and tries to get even with his partners. The crooks cannot long keep secret who they are, and Cordelia’s next problem is how to get the money, round up the crooks and get the reward for their capture. With the help of the captain and the professor, not to mention John Todd (Robert Jacobson), who had long wanted to marry her, Cordelia makes friends with one of the crooks and at last turns the tables on them all. In the end she consents to marry Todd but not before she ties up the town busybody. Myrtle Hodge (Lynn Petersen), who is also the aunt of Candy’s boyfriend, Lon Daggett (Todd Potas). Lisa Christensen played the part of a neighbor girl, Susie. s u P c c E A O R P N L T F A U E R R R K E E S N C E T I T L E A TEAM FOOTBALL From left to right. Front Row: Mr. Lano, J. Hathaway, D. Just remembering what we thought of football. . . . . . .What did ya say Hallsy did to that guy in the Preston pile-up? . .. .Alright, which ever Buschmann it is.. Run! .....Some cheerleaders won't forget how some Preston players “creamed” them. .Always looking forward to the Monday Cycle Races during practice. .Don Gerber of LeRoy liked our team so well, he joined us in the huddle. .Zent really had a good time with his Harmony man. While Stier was holding on the field, Buschmann was holding the coaches. Why did the coaches have so many messages to relay to the refs from Hallsy? .It was work, hard work, but in the end it was worth it. With 617 passing yards and 1734 running yards, the Superlarks danced their way to the Maple Leaf Conference Title. Scoring an average of 20 points per game the team was strong defensively as well, giving up a mere 7.6 points per game. Head Coach Jerry Lano and Assist- ant Pat Foley presented awards to the outstanding team members during a Football Banquet at season’s end. “Super” Tackier was David Buschmann. who brought down the most opponents. Two impressive Juniors were Greg Lamp, quarterback, and Jeff Hall, the leading ground gainer with a total of 637 yards. It came as no surprise when Jeff was named Best Defensive Player of the Year. Lamp, in his first season as a starter, attempted 100 passes and completed 31 of a total of 617 yards. In the Maple Leaf-Root River Con- ference Play-offs, the Superlarks squ- ashed Elgin-Millville to become ranked 6th in the State C Division. Hoefs, J. Leitchnam, D. Jahns, D. Buschmann, T. Potas, D. Barnes, D. Buschmann, M. Reiger. Coached by fearless Marc Reiger this year, our baseball team fought valiently against all foes. Even sever- al rainy days at the beginning of the season did not dampen their spirts. One of the highlights of their season this year was winning that first big game in the tournments against Southland. On the team this year were five seniors: Roger Hoefs, David Buschmann, Kevin Peterson, Dale Buschmann, and Kevin Zent. Although their win-loss record wasn’t as impressive as previous years, the team enjoyed playing and hopefully next year will bring stunn- ing victories across the board. AND REIGER TRACK TRIUMPHS Taking first in the conference and third in the District this season, GM’s track team also placed an impressive 6th at the Bryon Invitational with 26 teams Com- peting and won duals or triangulars with Spring Valley, Preston, Wykoff, Lyle, Austin Pacelli, Southland, and Glenville. Though an unexperienced team, GMHS finished third and fourth out of seven team meets. Both meets were held at Spring Valley, our home course, in which we proved to be tough compe- tition. Missing a first place finish by only 5 strokes, Larks Clubbers finished third. Individual standouts were Kevin Petersen who finished second out of 42 golfers and an 8th grader, Brett Potas, who shot an 89, missing the regional tournament by only 6 strokes. Golfers B. Potas, D. Southern The Big Night had arrived and people started toward the doors that would lead them to the lovely world of the Old South. The music of Gunshaw drifted up and blended with the trickle of the foun- tain in the hail. As they slowly decended the stairs the music grew louder and suddenly they saw a world that ranged from neat garden hedges and trees drap- ed with Spanish moss, to the elegant Southern Mansion. Many went to inspect the Mansion, and as they walked through the pillars they saw a furnished living room complete with a lighted fireplace. All, or most enjoyed dancing to the mu- sic under the sparkling silver moon. c o m f o r t — or ADMINISTRATION FACULTY 1. L. H. POTAS-Supt. of Schools 2. B. DELL-H. S. Principal, A.D. Missing J.
