History of the Class of 1958 ln l954, when we entered high school as Freshmen, little did we realize thatour four years of senior high would pass so quickly. You may be assured though, that we have had many pleasant memories. To lead us through .our freshman year, we had Miss Pound as our class advisor, Lowell Swift, President: James Murphy, Vice Presidentp Mary Willis, Secretaryp and Hubert Korroch, Treasurer. We began our sophomore year with Mrs. DePue as our advisor, Sam Spagnuolo, President, Hubert Korroch, Vice Presiclentg Doris Hodge, Secretary: Gordon Shepard, Treasurer. One of our first and biggest events was the choosing and ordering of our class rings. We chose the Starfire, which we thought was the best. We slipped noislly into our places as Jolly Juniors. Our year was packed with many activities to prepare us for the important year ahead. Mr. Hamilton was our class advisor. Helping him were Max Walters, Presidenti Kay Wise, Vice President: Kay irish, Secretaiyp and RoAnne Ewing, Treasurer. This was the year we received our class rings. We then began to sell Christmas wrappings to make money for our Junior-Senior banquet. Then as the re- sults of our good salesmanship, we gave the Seniors a very nice banquet, with Plantation Kapers as the theme. This, too, was a very successful event and brought our iunior year to a close. At last the long awaited senior year arrived and, needless to say, we greeted it with all the vim, vigor, and enthusiasm that is expected of a senior class. The officers consisted of Monte Endres, President, Doris Hodge, Vice Presidentp Sally Hiscock, Secretary, Joan Robinson, Treasurerp and Mr. Lawrence as our advisor. In September we had a yearly magazine sale to take care of our senior expenses, and then we donned our best clothes and washed our faces to have our senior pictures taken. Our Senior Prom then followed on February first, with the varied selections of Roger Smith and his orchestra. Refreshments were planned around the winter theme. We know the guests will always remember their evening inaa Winter Wonderland. As all good things must come to an end, so did our senior year. Although it really isn't the end, but lust the beginning, with each individual going his separate way. After the grueling exams came the traditional senior week activities-- Baccalaureate, Class Night, and then Commencement. As we crossed the platform to receive our diplomas, our hopes and future plans loomed large on the horizons before us, and we were remembering the fun and excitement of our senior year at Grand Ledge High School. 30
