SENIOR CLASS HISTORY ln September 1951 the class of 1955 began our four years through h1gh school We have many happy memorles to rem1n1sce Danny Hanklns as Pres1dent led us through our f1rst year Help1ng h1m was Lyle Clark V1ce Pres1dent Pat M1ller Secretary and Mary Jane Van S1ck1e Treasurer Mrs Mason was our adv1sor We started our second year Wlth B111 Brunger as Pres1dent Larry Seger 11nd V1ce Pres1dent Carolyn Kelsey Secretary and Lyle Clark Treasurer helped B111 make th1s a very successful year The week we spent at Yankee Spr1ngs w1ll be remembered for a long t1me W1th the Jr and Sr Banquet 1n m1nd we sold cokes and candy bars at the dances to boost our treasury We sponsored two dances the Sock Hop and the Forget Me Not dance w1th mus1c by the Ledger's Mr Bolhnger was our adv1sor By the t1me we were Jumors we had many good athletes and leaders to be proud of W1th Mar1on Shepard as Pres1dent we sold Chr1stmas wrapplngs and r1bbons to help pay for the Banquet Apr1l In Parls was the theme of the flcers for the year were Tom Hunter V1ce Pres1dent Mabelle Purt1ll Secretary and Bruce Jarstfer Treasurer Mr Beyer was our adv1sor The last and f1nal year of h1gh school we elected Joe Stark to be our leader Ass1st1ng Joe were Lyle Clark V1ce Pres1dent Nancy Wonser Secretary and Ga1l Shoemaker Treasurer To get the year off to a good start we had a magaz1ne sale to promote our Senlor Tr1p The class worked together so well that we won 10 watches Mr Lawrence was our adv1sor Lots of hard work went 1nto the very colorful Prom The theme of lt was Mardl Gras Ball For our Sen1or Tr1p we V1S1t6d New York C1ty There we were guests of the Ta.ft Hotel We v1s1ted Radxo C1ty and took a boat tr1p around Manhattan Island We also saw beautlful N1agara Falls at mght w1th all the hghts on It We fmally reached our goal Baccalaureate Class N1ght and Last but not least the mght we rece1ved our d1plomas Graduat1on These are three spec1aln1ghts we shall not forget for many years to come For 13 years we have been workmg towards th1s wonderful day gradua t1on Now we have reached that all lmportant date 10 best Jr. and Sr. Banquet Grand Ledge High School has ever seen.
