CULBERT ol s Jr m pi I Mr. Brook ' s informal approach to running this academy has served him well. He is often seen talking to students in the halls, the library, and on the grounds. His first year here has been a real success, PRINCIPAL Miss Caviness not only serves as our school librarian, but also as shorthand and German teacher. Her smiling face is much apprec- iated by the student body. Mr. Beckwith is a three year veteran at Grand Ledge. His live- ly humor adds to his intelligent mind to keep students alert in math and history classes. Mrs. Culbert is always busy figuring, checking files, or keeping track of Mr. Brooks. This is her third year here. Mr. Black teaches our science classes. He is active in our intramural program as well as introducing the G.L. A. phy- sics air-table. Mr. Chalker is busy as Bible teacher and guidance counse- lor. Students appreciate his relaxed class atmosphere. 1(1 Mr. and Mrs. Emery came to us from Walla Walla, Washington and have added many extra activities to our school. Mr. Sotala is in his sixth year at Grand Ledge. His duties include voice lessons and choir. 11 Mr. Mattson is in his second year here. His responsibilities include band, brass ensemble and instrumental lessons. Mr. Nelson teaches printing at Grand Ledge Academy. His class prints school bulletins and other school materials. 12 Mrs. Link has kept us fet for six years. Her food, although re- ceiving the usual cafeteria griping, is highly praised. Miss Nelson teaches Typing I and II, English I, and sponsors the yearbook, and . . . believe it or not . . . supervises three study halls. Sandy Williams returned to Grand Ledge second se- mester, bolstering the number of seniors to 13. She enjoys her tandem bicycle and attending a day school. She is regarded as a quiet, personable stu- dent. 50 Carla Clarke has added her bouncy, energetic personality to the school this year. She enjoys skiing and outdoor activities. Kevin Scheidt is another four-year student. He likes talking to friends, Nostalgia Day, and working on engines. He plans to attend a trade school next year, studying to be a typewriter re- pairman. 51 Doug Hearn won the Betty Crocker Homemaker Award for this year. He enjoys backpacking, bicycling, and tennis. A. at Ranch Au Sable was the spiritual high- light of this year. Pastor Paul Nystrom headed up the weekend of singing, searching, and prayer.
