' The I 970 Annual Staff Presents TABLE OF CONTENTS Dedications..................................3 Faculty......................................5 Classes......................................9 High School...............................10 Elementary................................21 Favorites...................................29 Organizations...............................38 Athletics...................................46 Activities..................................64 Advertisers.................................69 We, the 1970 Annual Staff, dedicate this yearbook to our coaches, Mr. Vincent and Mr. Richard. Through their untiring efforts Grand Lake’s status as competitors in the field of athletics has achieved the top rank. We are particularly proud of these two fine coaches working for the betterment of our school as well as their own athletic department. 3 PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Time Is Very Important I believe that we should look two w-ays - into the year that has passed and into the year ahead. Take a close look at what you did with your TIME last year. What do you have to show for it? Did you spend enough for study and research? Did you spend enough hours working with your teachers and principal in helping to make your school a better place to live and work? Did you spend enough hours helping with the work of your church, home, and neighborhood so that your community is a little better? To those who are leaving we hope that you give some thought and set goals for your future TIME. We wish you success. To those who will be returning, let us plan and strive with TIME to accomplish during this school year the things that eluded us last year. Alvin Hoffpauir Principal EDITOR’S MESSAGE The 1970 Hornet is a students view of a year that will become only a memory. The year 1970 will soon become almost undistinguishable from all the years that have gone before and all the years that will follow; but what time erases, this book will preserve the memories of theiyear 1970 at Grand Lake High. As editor, I speak for the entire staff in ex- tending a warm thank you to all who helped us with our 1970 annual. Dee Chargois Editor 4 JACK ADCOCK B.A., McNeese Graduate Work George Washington Un.
