We, the 1960 Hornet Staff, dedicate the 1960 Annual to the Student Body, whose vigor, aggressiveness, and spirit has made Grand Lake a well-known name in Southwest Louisiana. Together with the efforts of the faculty and parents, we have come from an insignificant little country school to an effective edu- cational institution. Principal G. J. Carter An annual serves as a record of past accomplishments. It is a book of memories. As such, it does not reflect the true temper of the nation and world of which the school is a part. Today, the world is troubled and the American democracy that we hold so dear is facing a severe test at home and abroad. Many of the values your school has tried to impart become increasingly more important. As you take your place in the world, remember that the most vital component part of democracy is human relations - respecting the dignity and the integrity of the individual and the group. May your future be so planned and managed that the important experiences of your life will bring you both honor and satisfaction.
